Kyle Robert Jacobs, 30, of Casper, WY, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2017. We will be having a celebration of life at 3:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Casper Elks Lodge located at 108 E. 7th Street in Casper, WY. Dress is casual. We would like this to be a sharing of stories and memories of Kyle that we can share later with his son, Jackson.
Kyle was born November 20, 1986 in Sterling, IL to Mary Katherine (Duncan) Jacobs and Dennis John Jacobs. Kyle was the youngest child of 12. He moved with his family to Byron, IL at the age of 6. Kyle graduated from Byron High School in 2005.
As a boy, he picked up the guitar just like his dad and played it throughout life and looked forward to teaching his son to play. In his teen years, he was known to be quite a skateboarder. In high school, he worked as a carpet cleaner. After graduating from high school, Kyle went on to work in construction. He worked with his brother Johnny for a while. Kyle had several jobs including crop dusting which gave him a love for flying. He even had a pilot’s permit at one time and hoped to go back and get a full pilot’s license one day. He also worked at the factory of Allied Lock & Chain for a couple of years and then went back to construction. He loved working with wood and was quite talented at it. He made us some great things that we will always treasure. He was also proud to be a Mason.
In June of 2012 Kyle went to work at Outland Energy as a Wind Technician travelling the country, working on wind turbines. This was the start of his true calling. He later went to work for Duke Energy. In 2013 Kyle was still travelling with work and happened to be working in Casper where one Friday night, he and some co-workers decided to go for a night out at the Casper Speedway. Little did he know that his gorgeous smile and the fact that he worked in wind energy would attract the attention of a female race car driver that night (Shayna Reed). Unfortunately, that race car driver was sent to New York the next day for a wind energy job of her own. They spoke on the phone for hours and hours and got to know each other enough that Shayna drove all the way from Warsaw, NY to Byron, IL for their first date, met Kyle’s parents and went to the drag races. A week later Kyle flew to New York to be with Shayna for her birthday and their 2nd date. They continued an on the road relationship as they both travelled for their companies until 2014, when Shayna came home to Wyoming and Kyle soon followed. They quickly fell in love and were engaged in March of 2014 and the very same day, they both had to fly out to work again, Shayna to Canada and Kyle to Colorado.
In August of 2014 Kyle finally got the transfer he had been waiting for so he could join his bride-to-be. They were married June 20, 2015. It was an absolutely beautiful wedding and he was so excited that 9 of his 11 siblings, several nieces and nephews and his parents were all able to make the long trek from Illinois. Kyle was a wonderful, loving husband to Shayna.
Kyle fit right into Shayna’s family. He quickly became the best of friends with her brother Shawn Reed. They loved riding snowmobiles together and he even helped work on the monster truck. He was there to root Shayna on and work on her race car, and Shawn’s race car too. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone even when they didn’t know they needed it.
In July, 2016, their beautiful son Jackson John was born. He stole his daddy’s heart and looks just like his daddy, especially his pretty blue eyes. Kyle was a wonderful father to Jackson. He was so loving, attentive and even changed those dirty diapers. He was so proud of this wonderful little boy.
After lots of hard work, Kyle was promoted to site lead at the Glenrock site at Duke Energy where he showed great leadership, organization and was an all-around go-to guy for the site. His family was so very proud of him.
Kyle was good at most everything he did. He could play guitar, sing, loved fishing, boating, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles and 4 wheelers, hunting for arrowheads, and was a champion cornhole player. He even made several sets of custom cornhole boards that were phenomenal.
Kyle is survived by his wife, Shayna (Reed) Jacobs, 6 month-old son, Jackson Jacobs, his parents, Kathy and Denny Jacobs, his 11 siblings, Mary Frymire, John Jacobs, April Jacobs, Randal Jacobs (Gena), Susan Jacobs, Timothy Jacobs, Brian Jacobs, Tina Curran (Mark), Christofer Jacobs (Andrea), Leland Jacobs, Karla Jacobs (Chase), and 16 nieces and nephews, numerous aunts and uncles, his grandfather John Jacobs, father-in-law Wayne Reed, mother-in-law Susie Reed, brother-in-law Shawn Reed, sister-in-law Danielle Reed, numerous other in-laws and his beloved fur baby, Gunner.
Kyle’s dashing good looks, sprinkled with silly little-boy charm and unruffled charisma, definitely made him stand out. Even when you were mad at him, even when he was pushing all those damn buttons, his warmth, kindness, his compassion, always shined through. Standing tall, head held high, shoulders back, chest out, looking so incredibly handsome and right when you thought he couldn’t get any more amazing or annoying, he just had to smile and you were hooked. That’s all it took, he could talk you into anything. You were now a part of his story, always and forever. Kyle and his beautiful smile will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. He touched so many lives in his short time here.
