Edith Mae Gates, age 95, of Casper, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 4, 2017 at Central Wyoming Hospice. Edith was born December 12, 1921 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Stephen and Ora (Loveless) Crook. Edith was the oldest of 6 children and was their caretaker for many years. Edith will always be remembered for her kind, caring and loving personality.
In addition to her parents, Edith was also preceded in death by her husband James, children Bessie Velazquez and Alvin Gates, sisters Lottie Nixon and Ivory Pryor, brothers Floyd and Steve Crook and son in law James Velazquez. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Marlene "Mardi" (Doug) Jones and Connie (Leo) LeCompte, sister Frances Simon, 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 2341, Casper, WY 82602.
