A memorial service to celebrate the life of Julia F. Miller will be held Thursday, August 17th at 10:30am at Boyd Avenue Baptist Church, with Pastor Quin Williams officiating. Mrs. Miller passed August 14th on her 85th birthday at Life Care Center. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Cremation has taken place.
Julie was born in Sullivan, Missouri to Nanna and Arlie Dixon and was raised with her eight brothers and sisters.
In 1951 Julie married the love of her life James (Jim) Miller in Sullivan. They had one son, Rick, who was born in Belleville, Illinois in 1953. In Belleville, Julie worked for the School District in the office.
In 1978, Jim and Julie relocated to Isfahan, Iran, where Jim was CEO of Operations for American Bell International. When the Shah was deposed in 1979 they were forced to evacuate, and upon their return to the States they retired to Wyoming to be near their son and grandson.
Julie loved cooking and baking, and enjoyed entertaining her church friends with lavish Christmas dinners. She was an active member of Boyd Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Shortly after moving to Casper, Julie became the babysitter for the children of Larry and Margo Bean, who became like a second family to Jim and Julie. She was proud to be called “Grandma Julie” by all four of the Bean children. The holidays and celebrations shared by the families held a special place in her heart, as did the times with so many of her special church friends.
Julie is survived by her son Rick (Sheri) of Casper; grandson, Coy of Portland, Oregon, and sisters, Margaret, Arline, Carol and Fran. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim; brothers, Arlie and Bus; and sisters, Madeline and Joanne.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to be made to Boyd Avenue Baptist Church.
