Mr. Douglas “Doug” Sutton died peacefully in his home after a fast fight with brain cancer on April 11 in Casper, WY at the age of 56. In an effort to understand glioblastoma multiforme, his family donated his brain and spinal column to the University of Colorado for study.

Doug is survived by his mother, Ruth Webb Sutton of Casper; wife, Mary Crouch Sutton of Casper; Children, Amanda of Casper, Laura of Steamboat, CO and Luke of Casper; siblings, Tom (Becky) Sutton of Missoula, MT and Sharon (Jerry) Osborne of Buffalo, WY. He is preceded in death by father, Paul Sutton; brothers Jim and Barry Sutton.

Doug was born on April 22, 1958 in Lovell, Wyoming to Paul and Ruth (Webb) Sutton. He attended Kelly Walsh High School and University of Wyoming. He married Mary Crouch, in 1980. After moving to Casper, Doug began working in the oil and gas industry as a parts salesman at PAMCO and Stewart & Stevenson and eventually parts manager at Gas Drive Global. The couple welcomed three children into their home and Doug set about teaching them the meaning of adventure and hard work. His children remember him as a driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Doug appreciated the outdoors and all the opportunities it provided for the family to spend together. He was a responsible risk taker who loved mountaineering, back country skiing, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, camping and sailing and who was passionate about sharing his love of the outdoors with his family and anyone else who wanted to try.

A memorial is scheduled for 2:00 pm April 18, 2015 at Platte River Trails Pump House, with a reception to follow. Close family friends will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doug’s life.
