Lawrance L. Stephens passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Wyoming Medical Center surrounded by family.
Larry was born in Douglas, WY, June 6, 1946 to Chester and Laura Stephens.

Larry was raised on a ranch south of Glenrock on Deer Creek. He graduated from Glenrock High School in 1965 where he played football. During his youth he was involved in 4-H carrying sheep, bee's and chicken projects and named outstanding 4-H member of Converse County for his achievement along with having champion Rambouillet sheep. After graduating he worked for his dad, herding sheep.

In the fall of 1965 Larry was drafted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. During this time Larry was injured when his tank struck a mine. He received treatment in Japan and later at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver. Larry received two Purple Hearts.

After his discharge he attended Casper College on the GI bill where he met his future wife, Connie Rees.

They were married on June 10, 1972 for 42 years. They completed their family with two daughters, Misty and Jamie. In 1989 the family moved from Casper to Glenrock where Larry was a 4-H leader assisting his children with their projects.

Larry worked at Pathfinder Mines and Peabody Coal Company until his retirement in 2007.

Larry was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening, rock hunting, playing cards, camping and sports.

He is survived by his wife Connie and daughter Misty Stephens both of Glenrock, daughter Jamie (Fred) Jetter of Evansville; sisters Rita (Art) Andrew and Phyllis (Jack) Peterson of Evansville; two grandchildren, Samantha and Logan Jetter. He is also survived by his uncle, Daniel Stephens of Casper; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceeded in death by his parents.

A Visitation will be 4:00 pm Sunday, May 10 at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be 1:00 pm. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Glenrock Southern Baptist Church with Interment following at Glenrock Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Larry's name to the Glenrock Senior Center.
