1947 - 2016

June Ellen Lewis, age 68, of Casper, passed away February 3, 2016 at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. June was born September 29, 1947 in Casper, WY to Charlie and Dorothy (Lewellen) Mosteller. She was born into a pioneer family and her grandfather was well known as a Pistol Bill. She was self-employed for most of her life as a contractor and painter. Her artistic skills were outstanding and were well known in Casper. She enjoyed most of her time outside hunting and fishing with her husband Red. A special moment June and Red shared was going elk hunting for their honeymoon. June was loved very dearly by her husband of 45 years, her children, and grandchildren. Red says she was the best wife anyone could have asked for.

In addition to her parents, June was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Leala, whom died at birth, and Dorothy.

She is survived by her Husband, Kenneth “Red” Lewis, daughter, Leala, son, Ken, their daughter from a previous marriage, Anna, five grandchildren, Brock, Daine, Cole, Afton, and Ranata; and one great granddaughter.

Since 2004 June never left Red's side, even when she was told she had Alzheimer's. They did not accept that, but she needed to be helped 24 hours a day. In 2013 Red woke up paralyzed for no reason. His angel, Alice, took June into her home. Loosing Red was too much of a shock and June needed more care in a long-term facility. Thankfully June found a room in Shephard of the Valley Care Center. There they met so many new friends, whom do not realize just how special they really are. Each and every one of them are very special people; really, really special people.

I, Red, want to especially thank everyone; from Alice; to the house keeper Maria of two years and one month; to Donna, the little girl that June use to teach and help in the little one room school; to the June whisperer, Hanna; to the Shepherd of the Valley bus drivers; and whomever else who may have just simply opened our door to check up on us. I never learned everyone’s names, for which I am very sorry, but to everyone, even those who have moved on to other jobs, if you ever had anything to do with the care of June in that time, we love you and we thank you. It is so stressful on the family members, but I was there from one to seven hours each and every day for June. I met so many new friends and many other family members going through the same thing, such as Mrs. Malson and many others, we love and thank you all. June and I cannot even begin to express our thanks. You are all so special!

At her request, no services will be held at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Wyoming Chapter, 2232 Dell Range Boulevard, Suite 220, Cheyenne, WY 82009 in June's memory.
