Carol was born to John R. Cherer and Virginia L. Cherer in East Chicago, Indiana.
She spent her life with a love for the water. After growing up by the Great Lakes she moved to League City, Texas near the gulf coast. Finally she found her home in Casper, Wyoming on the North Platte. As a child when people would ask Carol what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would convey to them how much she wanted to be a mom. She made her dreams come true, after her first marriage and having four children; she met the love of her life, Mike Plummer, and had three more children. Carol was the best mom. She loved to quilt and crochete. Carol was baptized June 11th 1983 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved her God Jehovah with every bone in her body. Each morning she would read her Bible and spend time with her Father in prayer. Carol loved to teach other people about her faith as well. She spent thousands of hours going to people’s doors and businesses and even taught in prisons the truths found in the bible as a part of the chaplain program in the Natrona County Detention Center.
Carol was a hard worker and didn’t let anything deter her. She graduated from NCHS in 1977. She then single-handedly managed to raise four children, work full-time, and obtain her associate's degree from Casper College. Later she and Mike started Horseplay Furnishings, the largest artistic western furnishing company in the country. She later became the Developmental Director of the Nicolaysen Art Museum where she was instrumental in starting the annual Nic Fest. On June 1st 2016 she started her dream job as the executive director of ART 321, Casper’s art guild. A place Carol described as “The land of the living and creative.” There are no words the can express the depth of character in Carol’s heart. There is no metaphor to depict the way in which she touched people’s lives.
To have known Carol Plummer, was to know there are good and kind people in the world, to know that every person has meaning, and to know every day is a gift in which we may give of ourselves to help others. Carol was a beloved member of Casper’s community she will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband Michael Plummer, also by her seven children Laura Thomas, David Thomas and wife Miki Thomas, John Thomas and wife Tiffany Thomas, T.J. Thomas and wife Stacey Thomas, Kara Plummer, Nile Plummer, and Kyle Plummer, and her five grandchildren, Tayla Thomas, Jack Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Emma Thomas, and Olive Thomas. She is also survived by her two sisters Betty Cherer, and Mary Cherer.
The memorial service for Carol Plummer will be held at 11:00am on Saturday June 25th, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1101 Wilkins Cir, Casper Wyoming.
