In Memory Of
Archie M. Pettry, Sr.
1922 - 2014

Archie Maurice Pettry, Sr, a long time resident of Casper. Passed away peacefully at his home the morning of October 12th.

Born in Comfort, WV in 1922, he was the second of 10 children to Burl and Delphia Petry. He attended East Bank High School where shortly after graduating, he married his High School sweetheart June Greathouse. They shared their lives together in a wonderful marriage lasting over 70 years, until June’s death in 2012.

Shortly after they married, Archie enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he proudly served in the South Pacific during WWII. Upon discharge, he returned to work for the Pure Oil Company (which later merged with Union Oil). This took him from WV to Colorado, Oklahoma, Utah and finally Wyoming.

Archie was father to three children, and proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 9 great great-grandchildren.

This wonderful life also had its share of misfortune, as Archie was preceded in death by his Daughters Elizabeth Ann and Judith Jayne, as well as Grand Daughter Holy Ann, and Grand Son Sean Michael.

The family has always enjoyed listening to the wonderful stories and gaining insight into his life, as well as learning his valuable life lessons, which will continue to be passed on through the family for generations to come.

Archie will be remembered as a member of the Greatest Generation, those who Proudly served our Country during WWII. Although quiet and reserved about his Service, it has always been a great source of pride to him and our family, and continues to be a source of inspiration to us all.

Services for Archie will be 10:00 AM, today, October 15, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery.
