Family and friends are mourning the loss of Ken Mundorf who died unexpectedly on October 26, 2014 in Grand Island NE, while returning home to Casper with his wife from a road trip to Nashville, TN. Kenneth Eugene Mundorf, son of Wilber and Nellie (Phillips) Mundorf was born December 13, 1932. He was born at home north of Ainsworth, NE the fourth child of the family of six. In his early years, he lived in the Norden, NE area attending country schools. He started high school in Keya Paha County, later moving to Johnstown and attending Ainsworth High School, graduating in 1950. He attended Chadron State Teacher's College and taught rural school before joining the Air Force in 1952. He served four years in the Korean War with one year in Korea and was honorably discharged in October 1956.

He was married to Shirley Boyd of Johnstown on June 10, 1956 and they enjoyed over 58 years together. Three sons blessed this union, Steve, Stan and Dave all of Casper, WY.

In 1958 the family moved from Winner, SD to Casper where Ken was employed with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad until the company closed in 1985. He worked at Guardian Inspection Service and the Casper School District. From 1987 until his retirement in 1997 he worked for Job Service of Wyoming as an Employment and Training Analyst and also a Veteran Representative.

Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a lifetime fan of baseball and football. He coached Little League baseball for many years and is remembered for his fairness and dedication. He took great pride and interest in his family. Ken was a gentle soul who will always live in the hearts of those that knew him. He will be dearly missed.

His memory will live on through his wife, Shirley; children, Steve and wife Paula, Stan, Dave and wife Rhonda and her daughters, Acacia and Mackenzie Tille; and grandchildren, Eric, Jennell, Daniel, and Jeremy and his wife Lindy and great granddaughter, Carly Mundorf; two sisters and families, Pat and Bill Beebout and Sharon and Jay Stombaugh; mother-in-law Opal Boyd; and many other loved ones.

Preceding him in death were his parents, infant sister, and two brothers, Roland and Robert Mundorf.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home. The Mundorf Family will receive guests at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 7, 2014 at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.

Donations in Kenneth's name may be made to Central Wyoming Rescue Mission or the charity of the donor's choice.
