Mother's Day can be a difficult holiday when your mother is no longer with you. We've gathered a few ideas to help you turn this Mother's Day into a celebration of honoring and remembering the woman who loves you eternally.

1. Find a gift proxy
While your mother will never be replaced, a nice gesture could be giving a gift to a woman who is influential in your life or a woman who is deserving of a little extra love.

2. Recreate her signature dish
Did your mother cook a special meal that always comforted your soul? Consider honoring her by cooking her signature dish on Mother’s Day weekend. Make it a dinner date and invite family or friends over. During dinner, share your favorite memories of your mother.

3. You're my shining star
"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down to let us know they are happy." - Unknown Author
For under $100, you can name a star after your mother and when you look up in the sky you will remember this beautiful tribute to her.

4. Shower her with flowers
White carnations are a common tradition to remember mothers who are no longer with us. Pick out a beautiful bouquet, place the flowers in a vase next to her photograph or a candle as a tribute to her. Make it a family affair and hold a family memorial at her gravesite. Bring flowers and read a favorite Bible verse or inspirational passage.

5. Do a good deed
Honor your mother by donating to a cause that was meaningful to her or volunteer for a few hours to your mother’s favorite charity organization. Giving back is always a great way to find joy in the small things of life. Instead of feeling sad on Mother’s Day, donate your time to make someone else’s day a little bit brighter. We are sure it will make your mom proud.

6. Flex your green thumb
Did your mother love to garden? If so, you could create a memorial garden with her favorite vegetables, herbs, fruits or flowers. This garden can serve as a special place to reflect.

Not so into gardening? A lower maintenance option is to plant a tree or bush in honor of your mother’s memory.

7. Go road tripping
Did your mom love the beach? Or going on walks? Hunting down treasures in thrift shops? Or exploring the farmer’s market? No matter near or far, gather your family and take a memorial road trip in honor of mom and the activities and places she loved.
