Lois Elizabeth Sasso, 103, of Casper passed away Friday February 16, 2018 at Life Care Center.

She was born December 23, 1914 in Chicago, Ill. to Martha (Rockow) Horsch and Charles Edward Horsch. She moved to Casper, Wyoming when she was eleven months old. She attended Natrona County schools including Jefferson elementary and junior high school in Casper, and then graduated from Natrona County High School in 1932.

Lois received her B.A. degree from the University of Wyoming in 1936. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority while at the university.
She then began a teaching career in and around Casper. She married Peter Sasso in 1949, and then retired after 35 years of teaching in 1976. Some of the schools she taught at include high school in Shawnee, junior high in Midwest, junior high in Casper, 6th Grade at Lincoln School, and special reading classes at Garfield and McKinley.

She enjoyed doing crafts and family camping trips. She was a member of A.U.W., the hospital auxiliary, the Boat Club, and the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in the Methodist Thrift Shop for 20 years.

Memorials can be sent to the First United Methodist Church, the Casper Humane Society, or Blue Envelope.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Marta Lee Stovall and her husband of Houston, Texas, and cousin Dick Horsch of Casper. She was preceded in death by her parents (mentioned above), and husband of 57 years, Peter Sasso.

A visitation will be held 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, February 23, 2018 at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held 1:30 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Reception to follow the service in the Sonrise room. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
