In Memory Of
Denise Josephine "Deny Jo" Naugle
1972 - 2019

On January 3rd, 1972 a beautiful baby girl came into this world, Denise Josephine Thacker Matteson Naugle. God brought smiles to many faces. She was a happy, joyful, loving child. Deny’s father, Paul Thacker passed away on June 21st, 1973. Her mother, Pamela married Curt Matteson in 1975, who adopted Deny, she was blessed to have two wonderful fathers. The Matteson family was later blessed with four more children Deanna Marie, Virginia Marguerite, Carl Paul and Cyle Matthew Matteson.

The family spread deep roots throughout North Dakota, Colorado, and Texas. Deny graduated in Sterling, Colorado, and she’d taken some college courses. Deny married Bill Naugle in 1988. On January 12th 1989 Deny became a mother to Darren William Naugle. Deny and Darren became their own family, she raised a wonderful son. Deny spent many hours pursuing Darren’s love of sports. She loved to watch her son compete. Another of Deny’s greatest joys was when she became a grandmother to Royce- she loved you so much Royce, and loved the time she had with you. Later Deny had a very special friend in her life Troy Hundley, who spent many wonderful years with their family.

Perseverance was her finest quality, through the trials life hands us all Denise managed with grace and a smile, and because of it she made many great friends. Her determination when her life got tough was an inspiration to us all. Deny won ferociously loyal, caring, generous, fun friends. She was a hard-working, very independent person. Rest in peace sweet girl- your family will miss you. You will forever be in our hearts.

She is survived by her loving son Darren and his wife Rayann, grandson Royce Michael Naugle, Darrel Byers- Rayann’s father, parents Curt and Pamela Matteson, sister Deanna brother-in-law Jeremiah Swearson, nephews Levi and Kyle Swearson, nieces Sydney Schwindt, Matteson Lee her god-daughter, brother Carl Matteson and friend CarrieLee Sparks, her many aunts, uncles and cousins. Deny’s Aunt Deborah Schaff Hutzenbeler was 7 weeks old when she became Deny’s aunt, they were more than aunt and niece- they were good friends, her many friends and also Primer, her faithful, furry companion.
She is preceded in death by her father Paul Keith Thacker, grand-parents Matt and Jospehine Schaff, Boyd and Marilyn Matteson, Sister Virginia Marguerite, Brother Cyle Matthew, and nephew Cyle Schwindt. As well as her faithful furry companion Gage.

“You threw me to the wolves like howling wasn’t how I first learned to speak”

“May the Lord watch over me and thee while we are absent from each other”
