Henry "Gene" Eugene Jevne, 85 years of age, passed away in Casper, WY of heart complications. Gene was born in Glenburn, Ward County, ND, on May 12th, 1933, to Harry Oscar Jevne and Louise Priscilla (Armstrong) Jevne. He was the oldest of four children.
Gene attended grade school in the Lansford, ND area and graduated from Lansford High School in 1951. On October 7th of 1951 he married Ellen Caroline Zietz at the Methodist Church in Lansford. After moving 33 times in their married life, Gene and Ellen made their home in Casper since 1976.
Gene worked in the oil field business for 65 years. He received his pilot's license when he was 18 years old, and was an accomplished pilot, pilot instructor, and corporate pilot for several WY businesses, and crop dusted for a number of years. Gene loved flying. He flew into Denver International Airport 300 times in private planes, and has been to every major airport in the US. Some of Gene's other interests and hobbies were family gatherings, watching his grandchildrens' athletic events, taking photos, coffee buddies, antique automobiles, birdwatching, and keeping up on world events in his Fox News Chair.
He is survived by his wife Ellen, seven children: sons Mitchell (Carla) of Omaha, NE; Rick (Linda); Randy (Valerie); Steve; Dave (June); Jeff, all of Riverton, WY; daughter Karla (Cory) of Casper, WY; and his brother Terry (Joan) Jevne of Lansford, ND. Gene and Ellen are blessed with 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Vallie (Holmgren) Jevne; and brother Donald Jevne.
A Funeral service will be held at Highland Park Community Church on Saturday, March 2nd at 3:00 PM.
There will a reception afterwards at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2627 E 7th St, Casper, WY 82609.
Graveside services will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton, WY, on Monday, March 4th, at 1:00 PM.
