1928 - 2019

CASPER, WYO. - Richard (Dick) Sherman Sadler passed away peacefully on Friday May 10, 2019 at Shepherd of the Valley Hospice with his wife by his side. Dick was born in Haywarden, IA on September, 10, 1928 to Edward A. and Elsie (Sherman) Sadler. He graduated from St Mary’s High School in Clinton, IA in 1946. He then enlisted in the Navy. When he returned to IA he met the woman he would marry, Mary A. Dusterhoft of Victor, IA, and they married February, 2 1952. Dick was working for the Chicago North Western railroad at the time which took them to several states before settling into their home of Casper, WY in 1963. Together they raised 3 children, Edward, Richard and Connie.

Dick was employed by the Chicago North Western railroad until he retired. Immediately after he was appointed by Governor Ed Herschler as the Director of the Employment Security Commission until he retired from this appointment.

Dick was involved in various ways in the Casper community and serving the State of Wyoming in the House of Representatives and in the Senate from the years of 1971 to 2002. He served on many committees within this time and was an avid supporter for the Game and Fish Commission. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also continued, after leaving politics to help locals with all their calls, questions and to get them what they needed. Dick and Mary attended Our Lady of Fatima.

Besides being survived his wife, Mary of 67 years he is survived by two sons, Edward A. Sadler (Rochelle), Richard P. Sadler (Kathy), one daughter Connie, one brother David Sadler, 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Gen. Robert E. Sadler, Joel Sadler, sisters; Darlene York and Marylou Killean.

His Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Thursday May 16th, at 7:00 pm. The Services will also be held at Our Lady of Fatima on Friday May 17th at 10:30 am with reception following. Inurnment will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Evansville.
