Jerry D. "Porky" Leggett
1941 - 2019

Jerry D. Leggett, 77, passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, August 11, 2019.

Jerry was born in Carmi, IL on August 12, 1941 to Ramsey Leggett and Virginia Mossberger. His family moved to Evansville, IN when he was a child. He graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville in 1959, when he then followed his father into the oil field. Jerry welcomed his first daughter, Patty Leggett, into the world on November 28, 1959. Jerry married Paula Jean Buck on December 5, 1964. They welcomed their first and only child together, Lisa Anne, on July 1, 1965. Jerry moved his family to Casper in the spring of 1967, where he continued working for Haliburton until 1972. He then went to work at the Dave Johnston Power Plant. He retired as a superintendent from the power plant in 1998.

Jerry was an avid car enthusiast his entire life. He loved to watch NASCAR and go to the Daytona 500 races. In his early years in Wyoming, he raced motocross. He loved to hunt and be outdoors. His favorite spots to hunt were the Gros Ventre and in Dubois. During the summer months, you could find Jerry out on his boat at Glendo or Alcova. Before and after hunting season, Jerry was often in the mountains four-wheeling with his family. In the winter, he was snowmobiling. Needless to say, Jerry loved his toys.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and Lisa’s mother, Paula.

Jerry is survived by his siblings, Jimmy Leggett, Stephanie Buedel, Bruce Leggett, and Kevin Leggett; his daughters, Patty Leggett and Lisa Neese; two grandchildren, Sean Johnson and Rachel Neese; four great-grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews; and his long-time girlfriend, Linda Bullock.

Memorial services will be held at Glenrock Town Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 24.

In lieu of flowers or cards, memorial contributions can be made to Wyoming Dementia Care at wyomingdementiacare.com or the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
