Jerry Wayne Lyon, Jr. passed away Sunday, February 16th 2020 of medical complications at his home in Casper, Wy. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Please join us in celebrating Jerry’s life at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, February 25th at 1:30 p.m.

Jerry led a captivating life and always perused ventures that allowed him to involve his lifelong hobby and passion for firearms. Jerry enjoyed every aspect of firearm engineering, mechanics and collecting. He always enjoyed bonding with his family, children and friends by taking trips to the gun range. Jerry loved to educate others how to handle and fire a weapon safely. He truly enjoyed building, maintaining firearms and re-loading his own ammunition. His high admiration for law enforcement and firearms encompassed his days and nights and made him happy all the way until he passed.

Jerry was born January, 21st 1958 in Evansville, IN. He lived there as a small child until his mother and father moved the family to Homer, IL where Jerry grew up. They later moved to Deland, FL where Jerry finished high school. Jerry had two younger brothers and a younger sister who always looked up to him when they were young. As the oldest child he enjoyed teaching them to play games such as Cribbage. He met and married his first wife while also attending college as a Political Science major at Stetson University. He became a father with the birth of Thomas Wayne Lyon who was born in 1979. His entire family were all very proud of Jerry when he joined the United States Army in 1980. Jerry was relocated to Ft. Richardson, Alaska with his family as an Airborne Infantry Man. As he served on active duty, he was blessed with a daughter, Tara (Lyon) Roberts who was born in 1983. During his service in Anchorage, Jerry began the start to his long and decorated career in law enforcement. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from many Army training schools with awards, honors and medals. He finished his Army carrier in 1985 and moved his family to Atlanta, GA.

In 1986, Jerry became a Deputy, U.S. Marshal in the United States Department of Justice with the position of Criminal Investigator. He was assigned to protect Federal Judges, U.S. Attorneys, witnesses and suspects in many high profile cases. He was a supervisor for the 1996 Olympic Park bombing investigation in Atlanta and was part of the security detail for the Oklahoma City bomber trial in Denver, CO in 1997. While a Marshal, Jerry traveled to all 50 states and around the world tracking fugitives and bringing them to justice. He served in the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group, and many other instructor positions and anti-terrorist training's.

In 1997, Jerry moved his family to Casper, Wy where he still served as a U.S. Marshal until he retired in 2008. He continued his life in Casper involved in different avenues ranging from security personnel at the Federal courthouse, to gun range employee. Over the years, he married three more loves of his life and became a member in a few different Christian churches. Jerry loved to worship the Lord. Attending church and making friends who shared his same love for Jesus Christ gave him happiness and peace in his life. He was a very kind and polite man with high respect for others. He was funny with a wonderful sense of humor. He felt a loving bond to others who shared his same love for the Lord. He was currently a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He is now with the Lord and has also joined his father Jerry Wayne Lyon, Sr. in heaven.

Jerry is survived by his Mother Doris Lyon, bothers Jeff Lyon and Brian Lyon, Sister-n-Law Diane Lyon, Sister Carla (Lyon) Tuma, son Thomas Lyon, daughter Tara (Lyon) Roberts, son-in-law Kevin Roberts, nieces and nephews.
