In Memory Of
Marcella "Marcy" Stoneking
1963 - 2020

Marcella Elizabeth Stoneking passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Monday, August 31, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Marcy was born on June 19th, 1963 in Munich, Germany to Christine Huber and Gephardt Schmidt.

In 1966 Marcy and her family moved from Munich, Germany to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida then on to El Paso, Texas, Olympia Washington, and Denver Colorado, until finally Marcella found her heart and home in Glenrock, Wyoming in 1984.

In Glenrock Marcy found the love of her life when she met Orvie Stoneking. They married in 1988 and have shared a wonderful life together.

Marcy was an industrious and entrepreneurial person and pursued a variety of interests. While raising her family she successfully raised and trained horses, built houses, bought and sold houses, made dresses, and even wrote and published a children’s book. To Marcy’s delight over the last few years, she found a 2nd home at the Glenrock Landfill where she fell in love with her co-workers and the regular customers. She relished every opportunity to operate a skid-steer and a Cat D9 bulldozer.

Marcy is survived by her loving husband Orvie Stoneking, daughter (co-conspirator) Brandee Smith, her beautiful granddaughters Baily Smith and Samantha Neumeyer, stepson Jimmie Stoneking, his wife Melissa and their sweet and talented daughters Ashlinn and Rylie. Marcy’s surviving siblings are Jason Smith, his wife Debbie, their 3 children Jessica, Jonathan, and Justin and sister Kerstin Smith, her son Joshua Smith, of Orlando, Florida. Her Uncle William Regans, his wife, Diane and their son Chris are of Urbana, Illinois, and her two first cousins, Jim & Frank Nadell and their families hail from Carbondale, Colorado.

Marcy was preceded in death by her aunt Lisa Nadell of Carbondale, Colorado and her mother Christine Huber of Glenrock, Wyoming and father Gephardt Schmidt, Munich, Germany.

We will remember Marcy for her strength of will, indomitable spirit, her legendary smile, and infectious laugh. Her loss will be felt not just by her close and extended family, but also a community of friends, neighbors, and business associates.

Having lived a life of genuine character we know Marcy is perched high above, surrounded by horses, dogs, and in the company of her momma. We take solace in knowing Marcy is beaming down to all of us her unforgettable award-winning smile.

Until we meet again, we shall miss you Mom, Grandma, Sister, friend, and most of all, loving wife of a blessed husband.
