Mary Haass Valstad, a longtime resident of Casper, passed away on February 6, 2021 after a long illness. She was the daughter of John and Charlotte Haass, the mother of Tim, Kris and Jud Valstad and grandmother of Tim, Sara and Samuel. Mary was a graduate of NCHS and Casper College where she received her LPN degree. After college Mary lived in Omaha Nebraska and Jerseyville Illinois. She was awarded a master’s degree with honors from the University of Illinois Springfield.

Later in life Mary returned to Casper where she met her truly devoted and caring longtime partner, W. C. Mapp. Mary will be remembered as an excellent cook with a very artistic eye. She had a true love for animals. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew and loved her. She was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Charlotte Haass and son, Timothy Martin Valstad. Mary was the eldest of ten.
Her surviving siblings are Susan Brenniman, Thomas Haass, Patty Leik, Catherine Hall, John Haass, Matthew Haass, Nathan Haass, Michael Haass and Benjamin Haass
