In Memory Of
Harvey G. Long, Jr.
1942 - 2021

Harvey G. Long, Jr., a long-time resident of Kaycee, Wyoming, passed away on April 13, 2021 at the age of 78.

Harvey was born on September 16, 1942 to Irene Lamay Long and Harvey G. Long in International Falls, Minnesota.

In 1959, he joined the Army, where he learned how to drive truck; he was discharged in 1962.

Harvey married Della Eitel in April of 1964, and they were married for 55 years. Together, they had three children and many adventures. In 1972, Harvey and Della moved to Kaycee, where he drove truck, hauling bentonite and gravel for years for Eitel Trucking. Eventually he started his own business, H&D Long Trucking, and owned three semis.

In the trucking community, he was known as “Harvey WALL BANGER”. He could fix any mechanical issue and worked every day, regardless of the weather or time of day. Those who knew him knew he was a guy that would help and solve any issue. Harvey was creative in building junkyard toys. Many will remember the joy and fun of riding on car hoods, homemade lawnmowers, bicycles with lawnmower engines, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and anything else that he could add an engine to. He had a passion for music and loved singing karaoke. When asked how he was doing, Harvey would always answer with “pretty”.

Harvey is survived by his children: Penny Macormic, Candi Long, and Mike (Kelley) Long; grandchildren: Eric Macormic, Colter (Stephanie) Macormic, Lance (Jasmine) Long, Marcus Long, Alex Arnold, and Tye Busskohl; great-grandchildren: Kylie Carter, Anmarie Pierson, Aiden Long, and Carter Tarver; his favorite four-legged girl, Missy; his four sisters: Bernice, Elaine, Charolette, and Debbie; and many more extended family members.

Since February, his niece, Joye Masche, had lived with him and provided him a companion for his travels.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Della Long (June 2019); son-in-law, Jim Macormic (July 2020); parents, Irene and Harvey Long; brothers: Jim, Chuck, Larry, and Dwayne; sisters: Cicela and Joyce.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in Kaycee at Harvey and Della's home.
