In Memory Of
Karolyn J. "Kay" Asbury
1934 - 2022

Karolyn "Kay" Joy Asbury, 87, crossed over, on February 12, 2022 while in the hospital.

She was born to the late Arlo Christian and Hannah Bernice Jensen, August 4, 1934 in Fairview, UT, on her Aunt June's kitchen table with the doctor rushing to be in attendance.

Kay played the accordion and sang as a child. Around 5 yrs old, was in a duet, "Little Girls in Blue", a weekly radio show in Salt Lake City. Kay sang in the choir in high school and in the church choir, that was one of her favorite things.

Kay married Norman Asbury in 1958 and they relocated to Casper, WY. After 38 years, they were divorced. Kay then spent many years between Casper and Salt Lake City, Salt Lake being home in her heart.

She was always volunteering at her children's schools and was often the room mother. She worked the Blue Envelope Throat Swab program for years.

Kay was an avid reader and passed along her love of books to her children.

Kay was best known for making magnificent Gingerbread Houses at Christmas time and delivering them to the Pediatric ward at the hospital, the Children's Home, families in need, including presents for each family member.

She worked at the Village Inn and was a requested banquet server at the Country Club, Blue Ox and the Old Branding Iron Inn. She could balance dinner plates all the way up her arm.

Kay was an excellent baker, taught her children and grandchildren to bake and made homemade bread on a regular basis for her family.

She was a friend of Bill W. for 38 years.

Kay is survived by four children: Chris Asbury of Casper, WY, Jody VonSeggern of Casper, WY, Tyler (Janet) Asbury of Kaneohe, HI and Matt Asbury of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Stacy Cusack of Reno, NV, Rachel (Mike) Sheets of Casper, WY, Sara (Luke) Keeler of Newcastle, WY, Desmond Asbury of Kaneohe, HI and Michelle (Jeff) Oldfield Phillps of Chicago, IL, and 5 Great grandchildren, Jack Sheets, Maddie Sheets, Peter Keeler, Alice Keeler and Ethan Phillips.

She is also survived by her sister Shari Dutson of Alpine, UT and was preceded in death by her sister Jana Lee Harding of Salt Lake City, UT.

An informal celebration of life will be held in the early Spring.
