Hello Shauna and Jamie. You two have been blessed with a great man in your life and thank you for always sharing him with the school and students.
I have so many great memories of Mr. Gibbs. One if my favorite memories was him shooting and beating all of us! What made this truly amazing is he shot from his hip and we shot from our shoulder but it was never a contest.
He was kind, generous, found positives in people when you didn’t see it in yourself, and he was someone a person could count on. And he was the fastest person I knew (he would always race the fastest boy on the track team and I never saw him lose). The man could run!
I became a teacher in part because of him and when I thought about quitting college he was there for me then as well with his encouragement. I feel blessed seeing him at state volleyball this last year, which I just wish I would have know it was our last time talking. At least I got a hug.
I am sorry for your loss and I wish I had words to make the pain go away but know as I sit here writing this that I haven’t cried this hard since my mom and dad passed away. He was an amazing person, as you know. What you should also know is he thought the world of both of you! He made the world a better place for everyone. He made the lives of many better by just being in our lives.
Know in your heart that he’s in our hearts and so are both of you. Let me know if you need anything and I want to thank you again for sharing your husband/dad with me…I would be the person I am today without him.

Our thoughts and prayers going out to the family and friends of Jim Gibbs.
He was a great coach and teacher.
His philosophy on every sport gave all of
us a competitive edge. Enjoyed the tough work-outs and winning teams he produced through the years.

I remember Jim as a skilled and motivated athlete even when he was a freshman while I was a senior (in Mary Jo’s class). My condolences to his family.

Dear Shauna and family, we send our deepest sympathies to you on what may seem the longest and most painful of days. It will also be a day for many people who love you to extend their caring, compassionate thoughts.. I hope you can embrace that support and genuine concern and let it surround you with healing love. I regret that I am not there in person to express my deep respect for Jim and his remarkable life. To you and your lovely family, our prayers today for rest, peace and healing . Deb & Jack Fleming

Not only a great coach but also a very dear friend. Always so kind and supportive of me. Less than a year ago he was in Eugene, Oregon cheering me on at Nationals. God bless you Coach Gibbs, and your wonderful family. Our friendship meant a lot to me and always will.

I remember when the two of you were married. Dad was so excited to have a football player in the family. At your wedding Dad commented on the huge shoulders Jim and his best man had. Dad was mightily impressed.

I will remember Jim as an enthusiastic volleyball coach for us at Dean Morgan Jr. High. It was fun to watch him work with kids, to help them with the sport they loved. He unselfishly gave us many years after his retirement and we are grateful he stepped up to help students on and off the court. Jim had many talents and I’m fortunate to have a beer can chicken roaster for my grill, crafted by Coach Jim Gibbs.
I’m very sorry for your loss but have fond memories of a life well lived.

So sorry to hear of your loss. It is so hard losing a loved one, but after 50 years of marriage, I can't even imagine the hurt you must be feeling. Please accept my condolences for your loss of someone so dear. Take care and know there are many left behind to love and cherish. Keep them close and never forget the good times.

To my cousin Jim's family: Louie and I are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I wish we had grown up together instead of only seeing each other occasionally. We are grateful to have spent some time together in WY with Jim and Shauna, Mary Jo and Don and John and Vicki not too long ago.
I am especially happy we were able to take Jim down memory lane in Barton County Missouri a couple of years ago. We did several thing while they were here, but a few highlights were visiting our grandparents graves in Milford, MO where Wyatt Earp's wife's is also buried. Jim remembered eating at Chicken Annie's when he was a kid here visiting, and we took him there too. I asked Jim if he wanted to tour Harry Truman's birthplace, and he jokingly said, "You mean we are going to Independence?".....No Jim, Harry Truman was born in Lamar, MO about two blocks from where we are right now and so just to prove that to him, we did tour it. He will be missed by all who knew him. Prayers for his family and friends. RIP Cousin Jim.

Shauna and family,
So very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I hold you and yours in my heart and prayers.

Jim Gibbs was my friend and teacher. He gave me a chance to compete with the boys in a P.E. class when I was a sophomore in high school. I learned a lot. Jim painted my Barracuda orange for me. After the locker rooms flooded one summer he was heard saying, "The only thing older than me at this school was dirt. Now I'm not so sure!' Mr Gibbs will be missed by many.

Gramps... I gonna miss you! Thank you for always taking the time to coach and love us. Thank you for traveling to State Games and recruiting athletes from other towns to challenge us and make it so we could play sports in the summer. Thanks for yelling at me and rubbing your head so hard I almost cried out on the court knowing I was going to get it when I came to the bench. Thank you for wanting us to be able to handle the ball being hit hard and having Tim Flitner and Rod Graham come kill us at volleyball practice. Thank you for believing in me with my wood crafts and bringing your metal work so that I could have a full booth at the craft bizarres. I appreciated you hiring my boys to work for you in Basin and helping show them why we all love you so much. You're the only person I ever saw eat an onion like an apple... hahaha. My heart is broken and I'm so sad I cannot get off from work to come say a final goodbye. I love you Coach.

Jim will be SO missed in this world. He has touched countless lives and was the epitome of community involvement. He was also a wonderful friend and caring family man. We are so blessed that he found Tom when moving to Casper, and thus the beginning of our longtime friendship with him and Shauna. It is hard to imagine not having him here on earth, but WOW, heaven gained a giant of a man and we will all be forever friends there someday ... We love you Jim and Shauna and Jamie and family. The Gibbs family has always made this world a better place. Tom and Cindy Bower

Dear Jaime,
My prayers go to you and your family.
I'm thankful for your father for opening his home to us, caring to be our teacher, and coach. A poem I often think of when I think of my dad and how great it is to have wonderful memories.

I will never forget how Jim was so welcoming when I came to Riverside and his continued support while we were in Casper. He was such a good man even if he was a little rough on the outside. I hope your memories of Jim bring you many blessings. He always made Zoe and I feel like family.

I was the graduating class of 1997 of Riverside High School in Basin. Mr.Gibbs played a huge role on my life from being my PE teacher, coaching me in volleyball in track in high school. He was a great coach and saw so many potential in a lot of students and athletes. Huge mentor to me. I now volunteer my time to younger children in sports. I also work as a para in Basin and devote my time to students because of Mr. Gibbs. Fly high Mr. Gibbs! RIP and until we meet again on the other side! Please know you touch my life and my heart!

Condolences to Jim’s wife Shauna and his family. Mr Gibbs was one of my favorite teachers in Basin . From the obstacle courses in the gym to trapshooting out at the gun range, he always kept his classes fresh and always something different everyday. Most of all the work ethic he instilled in me will never be forgotten. If you wanted to learn he would bend over backwards to help you succeed. Till we meet again Rest In Peace Mr Gibbs you will be missed.

Sending our love, prayers and heartfelt condolences to Shauna, Jamie and family.
Jim always gave me a hug and punched me in the arm when I saw him. He teased, he squeezed and he let you know what his opinion was whether it was solicited or not. He was unapologetically, Jim. We loved him for it! Talented and always coaching, I enjoyed listening to his many stories about Volleyball, Trapshooting and woodworking. He always worked in a story about his daughter, Jaime, and his grandkids. He was so proud of them. Jim was so good to and for my dad, Jack. (Shauna's Uncle). He was always willing to help when dad needed an extra hand and they spent many hours in each others company. I could just imagine that dad was one of the first to greet him at the Pearly gates with a beer and a joke to share.
The last time I saw Jim was in St. Louis Missouri at Aunt Eva's 85th birthday party. With many cousins, and spouses, we attended a St Louis Cardinals game. I am so glad I received one more hug, one more tease and a punch in the arm.
All our love to you Shauna and Jaime....
Until we meet again Jim... RIP

Dear Shauna and Jaime,
This is so hard to write. Jim meant so much to so many. His students were so lucky to have him as a teacher, coach and friend.
He helped them to work hard and never give up. They became better because of his effort. He made Basin/Riverside a better place in so many ways. He gave freely of his time and energy to accomplish those goals.
Shauna your husband and Jaime your Dad was an amazing person. Your loss is shared by all of us who knew him. Jim will never be forgotten.

So sorry to hear about this. Mr. Gibbs was a phenomenal coach and teacher. Because of him, I developed a strong interest in running and staying half way in shape! He was always pushing me more than what I really wanted to do! His P.E. classes were unforgettable. Obstacle courses in the gym and more enjoyable were the rifle and shotgun classes at Torch Light Hill. He will be missed.

Shauna and Jaime, I am so sorry for the loss of Jim. I will always remember him pitching softball and being a good coach to both my brothers. I hope you can find comfort in the good memories Jim leaves behind.

Shauna and Jaime, I wish you peace and comfort at this difficult time. I say this with a heavy heart myself. Jim had a huge impact on me starting when as I was a Freshman. He was the teacher I needed, an excellent coach, and even provided me with a job while as I was in high school. I then had the privilege to work beside him for many years. He was a mentor, a great friend, and always gave advice that I needed. I always looked forward to coming to Casper for state events, because Jim was always there so it was nice to stay in contact and keep up on things. I wish you both the best; may Jim Rest In Peace.
