Dorothy “Jayne” Clark of Casper, Wyoming, beloved 99-year-old spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully Sunday, October 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

How can nearly 100 years in the life of this independent, spicy little lady be condensed into a few short paragraphs? She began as Dorothy Jayne, the daughter of Bern and Blanche (Casteel) Shoop, born in Whitewood, SD on February 6, 1923, the third of three daughters (Marietta and Helen Mae). She grew up in Whitewood where she attended school and graduated from Whitewood High School. She then attended National Business College in Rapid City, SD. For the next 43 years, Jayne was a consulaire/ticket agent for Western/Delta Airlines, having lived in Rapid City, Minneapolis, Denver, and Casper.

Jayne married Raymond Clark on October 18, 1963. They enjoyed traveling, their beloved dogs and helping raise Raymond’s four children, Linda, Polly, Randy and Jim. These four children have been blessed to call her “Mom” for 59 years. After they gifted her with grandchildren, all four became second string. From that time on, we all bestowed upon her the loving name of “Grandma”.

Jayne and Ray were active in their Casper community. Jayne was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Oriental Order of North America. She was an avid bowler and delighted in taking part in the Social Order of the Beauceant Keheta Court and Sagebrush Dancers.

Jayne was known for her quick wit, her feisty personality, and was famous for the brush rollers she often wore in her hair. She was not one to keep her preferences to herself. She enjoyed playing cards and games and was often great in expressing herself with spicy language and smack talk. She had a passion to shop. She loved pineapple milk shakes and Johnny J’s. She had a sassy twinkle in her eye and her quips added much laughter to many a story. She had a heart as big as Casper Mountain. She made possible many a picnic which was held up on that mountain.

Jayne was a loving and generous mother and grandmother. All of her family and friends have been recipients of her wonderful garden, her produce canning and her delicious baked goods, particularly her Christmas peanut brittle, her special fruit cakes and her awesome pies. It was at her instigation; we have shared many awesome family get-togethers.

For the past year Jayne was a resident of Meadow Wind Assisted Living in Casper. She, and all of her family, are so grateful to them and Caring Edge Hospice for the loving care she received from their staff of gifted caregivers.

How very much we will miss Jayne’s generous, loving, classy, sassy, ornery, funny personality. We will miss those special times we’ve shared with her while we stored away wonderful memories. She has added so much spunk to all of our lives. She leaves a unique legacy we consider a gift indeed, a legacy of love and laughter for all of her family.

Jayne is survived by her four children, Linda Kersey of Anderson, SC, Polly (Don) Mosey of Sioux Falls, SD, Randy (Gail) Clark of Laramie, WY, Jim (Barbara) Clark of Casper, WY, daughter-in-law Patsy (Mike) O’Hearn of Casper, WY, her twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, step brothers, a great granddaughter, and her son-in-law Skip Kersey.
