1934 - 2023

Mary Alice McMurry, 88, passed away January 10, 2023 peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She was a devout Catholic all her life. Alice was born July 12, 1934 in Rawlins, WY to biological father Eloy Graham and was later adopted by her Aunt and Uncle Abel and Antonia Vigil.

She married James McMurry of Farson, WY on March 27, 1954 in Pinedale, WY. They celebrated 68 years together with a family celebration in 2022. Alice and Jim started their life together ranching in Farson later adding a construction company then moved to Rock Springs WY with their construction business for several years then moved to Casper WY. She retired from the construction company in 2005.

Alice enjoyed making wedding dresses for her daughters and granddaughters and many others. She was a quilter for many years, enjoyed crocheting and reading and loved cooking fantastic meals any time someone stopped in. In later years, she and Jim found a passion working on many projects in their shop until late into the night.

Alice is survived by her husband, Jim McMurry; sisters, Stella LaVadie and Mary Edna Vigil; brothers-in-law, Bob (Angie) McMurry, Jack (Meriam) McMurry; sister-in-law Pat (Keith) McCarty; children, Cheri McMurry of Sinclair, WY; Ron (Linda) McMurry of Casper, WY; Cindy Buckendorf of Eden, WY; Kathy (Tim) Utzinger of Rock Springs, WY; and Robert (Nancye) McMurry of Casper, WY; grandchildren, Jenine (Jeremy) Rittierodt; Seth (Gabby) Juel; Misti (Curt) Cole; Heidi (Trevor) Walker; Dusty (Monty) Carlisle; Tessie (TJ) Swenson; Kami Buckendorf; Roland (Darcy) Buckendorf; Christian Utzinger; Zen Utzinger; Nova Utzinger; Bobbie Lynn (Andrew) Salazar; and Colton (Marrisa) McMurry; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and Alice’s special caregivers, Rebecca; Heather; Lauren; and Ellie.

Alice was proceeded in death by her parents, her brothers, Gilbert Vigil and Johnnie Graham; her mother and father-in-law, Vern and Ella McMurry; her sisters-in-law, Dixie McMurry and Betty Peterson; and son-in-law George Buckendorf.

Cremation has taken place and services will be held in Farson, WY at a later date.
