Joseph Dean "Dugan" Simmons, Jr. he passed away peacefully in his sleep at Banner Medical Center on October 13th, 2023. He was born April 4th, 1935 in Lafayette, LA to Joseph Dean Simmons, Sr. and Ethel (Pierce) Simmons.

Dugan grew up in several different places, Laramie, WY. was one of those places while his dad worked for Superior Oil Company, until his dad "Joe" Sr. was transferred to Casper, WY where he ended up going to school in Casper.

He attended Dean Morgan Jr. High and graduated from N.C.H.S. in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on the 8th of Feb 1956 and served in New Ulm, West Germany. He was a Lt. vehicle driver and had a motor vehicle driver and a mechanics badge w/bar wheel vehicle, he was a sharpshooter (Rifle), he left the service with the rank of Private (PV2) on the 31st of January 1958.

On April 17th, 1958 Dugan married his high school sweetheart Barbara Ann (Sizemore) Simmons, they both loved each other very much and some of what was shown by their love and affection was instilled in their boys.

Dugan joined Casper Lodge #15 in 1964, he received his Entered Apprentice degree January 8th, 1964, Passed to the degree of a Fellowcraft on January 22nd 1964 and was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on February 12th 1964. He served as Worshipful Master starting June 30th, 1971. He served as lodge secretary for 30 years and for 1 year as his son's 2nd term as Master of the Lodge.

Dugan was very proud of his boys. Dugan got the pleasure of signing Jeff's petition for DeMolay, Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Shrine. Dugan

Dugan was the ramrod behind his "Class of 54's" reunions and newsletters. He'll be missed by those of his classmates that are still alive! He sure did enjoy his time with his classmates.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel, father Joseph Dean Simmons, Sr. youngest brother John Arthur Simmons and oldest son John Michael Simmons.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Ann (Sizemore) Simmons, youngest son Jeffrey D. Simmons, 2 grandsons Jeff's son, Jesse Dean Simmons, and Mike's son, Jeremiah Clay Simmons. He is also survived by his younger brother James "Jim" J. Simmons, younger sister Jane E. Simmons and youngest sister Judy K. (Simmons) (Hoppy) Hopkins.

No funeral is planned but a memorial service is planned, with masonic services. Dugan would not like everyone to mourn his passing but to instead celebrate and cherish his memory and time on this earth.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at VFW Post # 9439, 1800 Bryan Stock Trail, Casper, WY, 82601.

This had to be the 2nd hardest thing I did for dad, I love and miss you very, very much! Hug Grandma, Granddad, Uncle John, Mike and the rest of the clan!!!
