Derek William Bitner Life story video
Derek William Bitner, 43, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Derek was born in Casper, Wyoming to David and Bonnie Bitner on February 8, 1980, joining his two older sisters, Alicia and Tamara. Derek attended schools in Casper and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1999. He attended Casper College, where he found his passion in Fire Science, graduating in 2001. He went straight to work for the Bureau of Land Management and was based in Casper, but he was called out to other sites across many western states.

Derek was mechanically inclined, and loved to tinker. He enjoyed hunting - mainly deer, antelope, and elk, but he loved to fish.

Derek is survived by his parents, sisters, Alicia (James) Carrasco and Tamara (Joe) Myer, younger brother, Bryant (Adina) Bitner; nieces and nephews, Ryan and Reese Carrasco; Katherine, Reagan, Maggie, and Eric Myer; and Aella and Torin Bitner, and his best dog, Slim.

The Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 400 Country Club Rd, Casper, WY 82609.
