In Memory Of
Vickie Lynn Galles
1943 - 2023

Vickie Lynn Galles, 80, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on November 16, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Vickie was born in Casper, Wyoming to parents Victor and Calla Lily (Lilly) Propp in 1943. She was later joined by her younger sister, Nancy. Vickie attended Willard Elementary School, Dean Morgan Junior High, and Natrona County High School before her family moved to Greybull, Wyoming when she was a junior. Vickie graduated from Greybull High School in 1961.

After graduating high school, Vickie went to Central Business College in Denver, Colorado where she graduated in August of 1962. After college Vickie returned to Casper and lived with her grandmother, “Granny” while she began working for Continental Pipe Line company.

Vickie met her future husband, Don H. Galles, Jr. on a double date. They later married and had two children, Brandi and Meegan. During their 29 years of marriage, they established Don Galles Sales which they then turned into Galles Liquor Mart. Vickie was somehow able to manage all the business records and keep the accounting straight for their businesses, while also being a stay-at-home mother to their girls.

As a mom, her girls have the fondest memories of her being the “homeroom mom” where she coordinated classroom parties and chaperoned most field trips. She would do practically anything to support, encourage, and stand by her girls.

After Vickie and Don divorced, she began working for Okes Jewelers. It was working there that sparked Vickie’s love of jewelry. She worked at Okes until she retired in 2011.

Over the years, Vickie had multiple hobbies. She loved taking her girls shopping, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, playing cards, collecting cookbooks, and later becoming an avid reader.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Calla (Lilly) Propp, daughter Brandi Galles, best friend Marie Compton, and many beloved pets. She is survived by her daughter Meegan (Mike) Steinberg, sister Nancy (Keith) Smueles, nieces Mary Kathryn (Dan) Kricken and Julie (Thad) Behunin, and her last companion Zeus (aka Little Bit).

Cremation has taken place and services will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 710 E. 2nd St, Casper, Wyoming. Family visitation will start at 11:00 am with the celebration of life beginning at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vickie’s name to Fur Pets Sake Pet Center, 2060 Fairgrounds Rd, Casper, WY.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thank-yous to Mountain Plaza Assisted Living, Enhabit Home Health & Hospice, Fur Pets Sake Pet Center, and all the Nurses, CNAs, and staff who loved and supported Vickie.
