Ava Carol (Geis) Aultman, 72, passed away on March 10, 2026, during open-heart surgery at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.
Ava was born on August 2, 1953, in Worland, Wyoming, the second of identical twins born to Neil and Mary Elizabeth (Waln) Geis. She shared her birthday with her father. At the time of her birth, her father was serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and did not meet the twins until they were three months old.
Ava grew up in Worland and attended school there through high school. As a child, she worked alongside her twin sister, Clytie, and sometimes younger sister, Jeanette, on the family farm. Their work included hoeing and harvesting the large garden, irrigating fields, baling hay, and feeding cows and calves during the winter months. During the summer, Ava enjoyed riding horseback while helping herd and brand the family’s livestock. One of her favorite memories was riding along in her father’s livestock truck while he helped ranchers move their herds up or down the Big Horn Mountains.
Shortly after graduating from high school in 1972, Ava married her first husband and moved to Lynch, Wyoming. Over the years she also lived in Powell, Wyoming, and Dickinson, North Dakota, before settling in Casper, Wyoming, in 1985.
Ava worked most of her professional career in the banking industry, holding several positions with First Interstate Bank before retiring from Jonah Bank in 2019.
In 2007, Ava married Butch Aultman, and together they made their home in Bar Nunn, Wyoming. Ava enjoyed cooking, working in her yard and flower gardens, and remodeling their home several times. She had a unique interior decorating style and took great pride in creating a warm and beautiful home. Although Ava did not have children of her own, she and Butch dearly loved their three Australian Shepherds, whom they treated as cherished members of their family.
Ava was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nick and Hazel Geis of Worland; her maternal grandparents, Arnold and Mary Waln of Ten Sleep; her parents, Neil and Beth Geis of Worland; uncles Homer (Francis), Harold (Dee), and Jerry (Irma) Geis, all of Worland; and aunts Jane (Jim) O’Connor of Worland and LaVonne (Stan) Pennoyer of Thermopolis.
She is survived by her husband, Butch Aultman; stepdaughter Cary (John) Galvin of Casper; uncle Lyle (Marge) Geis of Worland; her twin sister, Clytie (Robert) Loudan of Worland; and her younger sister, Jeanette (Dick) Buelt of Casper. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Lance (Taigon) Kalivas of Sheridan, Jennifer (Justin) Leinonen of Casper, Cory (Jennifer) Buelt of Casper, and Brandi Ramirez of Worland; great-nieces and nephews Tyler and Gage Leinonen; Jack, Alexandra, and Hallie Buelt; and Lecsi and Lucas Ramirez; as well as many cousins and extended families.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
