Bernice Murrieta Halbert (née Celaya), 61, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming. Born on December 17, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona, Bernice grew into a woman whose heart, kindness, and devotion touched everyone who knew her.
She was the beloved daughter of Alice Murrieta and Daniel Celaya, and the cherished mother of Jacob Oline and Bethany Halbert. Bernice is also survived by her loving mother, Alice Celaya, and her siblings Roseann, Tony, and Thomas.
Bernice had a natural gift with technology, especially computers, but her greatest role came later in life as a homemaker when she became pregnant with her daughter Bethany. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with lupus—a challenge she faced with resilience, grace, and strength.
She was deeply devoted to her children. Bernice always held a special love for her son Jacob, her first child and only son, who made her a mother. Even though they lived in different states, she made sure to stay connected with him and reminded him often how loved he was. With Bethany, she shared an unbreakable bond built on daily caregiving, laughter, and unconditional love.
Despite her illness, Bernice found joy and purpose in so many things. She loved competing in 8-ball pool tournaments and cheering on Bethany in dart competitions. Baking was one of her favorite pastimes, and she proudly entered her creations in online contests. Bernice also had a passion for political research, never shying away from learning and forming her own opinions.
Some of her happiest moments were spent during cozy movie nights, enjoying old classics that never failed to bring her comfort. She lived life with an open mind, always wearing her heart on her sleeve and making sure those she loved knew just how deeply she cared. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love left a lasting mark on the lives of her family and friends.
A celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at a later date, and close family and friends will be contacted directly with details. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be remembered always for her love, laughter, and the light she brought into this world.
