Bernice Rose Schumann passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on August 7th surrounded by her loving family at Meadow Winds Assisted Living.
Bernice was born on January 13, 1933 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The Hurley family made their way to Riverton, Wyoming where she graduated from high school in 1952. Soon after that, Bernice met Tom Schumann, married on August 21,1954, and began their amazing 63 year adventure of love and family.
They raised their children, Roberta Lynn, Andrew Thomas, Craig Alvin, and Connie Sue to always be kind and to appreciate the beauty of Wyoming and all it had to offer. Bernice's happiest moments were spent with her family at home, camping, hunting, or fishing. Her priority has always been to take care of the people she loves.
After Tom's passing in 2017. She became a member of the Meadow Winds community, where she welcomed new residents, participated in social activities, and coached her friends on the art of playing the dice game "Greedy." Bernice was very happy at her new home and loved the staff and her friends living with her in "God's waiting room."
She is survived by Roberta (Don) Smith, Andrew (Joanne) Schumann, Connie (David) Edleman; and all of their families. Preceding her in death where her husband Tom, and her son Craig who welcomed her into heaven.
Bernice was a loving wife, encouraging mother, nurturing grandmother, and a genuine friend. Her smiling face and attitude of kindness will be greatly missed.
A memorial service is scheduled at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Newcomer Casper, 710 East Second Street, Casper, WY, 82601 with a reception to follow.
