Betty Jane Martin passed away Nov. 25, 2025, with her daughter, Sarah Tyson, and loving husband, Dale Martin, by her side.
Betty was born on Oct. 13, 1955, to Marvin and Lois Winge in Kankakee Illinois. She was the fifth of six children. Her siblings Mary, Margaret, Donna, Donald and James were her first friends. When she was 7, she met Bonita Mae (Nolan) Kibbons. They became best friends and remained close their entire lives.
In 1976, she married Russell Jones and to this union Sarah, Carl and Benjamin were born. They divorced 21 years later, and she met Dale Allen Martin. After 26 years, they were married on May 8, 2020. They were together 31 years until she passed away.
Betty started her CNA career in 1980. For over 40 years she cared for others in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Shortly after retiring in 2020, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. With her strong will and positive attitude, she was able to be medication free for over a year.
Betty and Dale lived simple lives. They spent time walking and hiking on Casper Mountain and the surrounding lakes. Betty enjoyed collecting owls, gnomes and Betty Boop. Her grandchildren even called her Grandma Boop! She also was an avid golf fan and could be found watching golf most Sundays. Anyone that knew her would say how patient, kind and sweet she was.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Lois Winge, sisters Mary Winge and Donna Hussey, brother Donald Winge and son Carl Porter Jones. She is survived by her husband Dale Martin, sister Margaret Korgis, brother James Winge, daughter Sarah Tyson, son Ben (Dez) Jones, her step-son Jeff (Brandi) Martin, her grandchildren Andrew (Jerilynn) Tyson, Bianca, Nathaniel and Henrik Jones, Sophia and Brennan Coles, great-grandchildren Caroline Peterson and Oliver Tyson and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Memorials and condolences to the family may be sent to Sarah Tyson, PO Box 533, Gillette WY 82717. The family would like to thank her caregivers with Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions for their kindness and assistance through Betty’s passing.
