Betty L. Petersen

Betty Lee Petersen, 89, of Casper, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026.

She was born in Casper, Wyoming, on October 30, 1936, to the late Leonidus Elroy Hamilton and Delma Muriel Galusha. Betty graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper and attended Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas.

She married James W. Miller in 1956, and they lived together in New London, Texas, where they had three children: Sebe Cecil Miller, Sabrina Lynn (Miller) Brown, and Vicki Lorraine (Miller) Stairs. James and Betty divorced in 1976, and Betty returned to Casper, Wyoming. There she met Robert Gehrett; after his passing, she met Otis Eugene "Gene" Petersen. Following their marriage, she moved to Cody, Wyoming, where they resided until Gene passed away in 2016. Betty then returned to Casper, where she resided until her death. She was an active member of the Eagles in both Cody and Casper.

Betty is survived by her two children, Sabrina (Miller) Brown, and Vicki (Miller) Stairs and Husband Mike; three grandchildren, Tori (Miller) Sayre and husband JR, Brandi Cowan and husband Josh, and Josh Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Arnold, Joe Sayre, Lane Sayre, Jessica Harris, Sia Brewer, Brooke Brewer, and Kyle Knight; and eight great-great-grandchildren, Ray Diaz, Avery Gray, Easton Arnold, Isabella Arnold, Mason Carter, Addison Carter, Liliana Luna, and Lilly Sayre.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leonidus Elroy "Lee" Hamilton; her step-father and mother, Burton M. and Delma Taylor; her sisters, Hazel Bowman and Bonnie Fulton; and her brother, Burton M. Taylor II; and her son Sebe Cecil Miller.

Per Betty's request, there will be no services, and a private burial will be held at Highland Cemetery.
