Bruce B. Parker, age 72, of Casper Wyoming, passed away on January 1, 2026.
Bruce was born in Cortez Colorado to Jerry J. Parker and Charlene Caroline Parker. Bruce grew up in Evanston Wyoming, where he excelled in both athletics and academics. He graduated from Evanston High School, where he once held the school record for hurdles. He went on to attend the University of Wyoming (UW) playing football for the Cowboys. After his second year at UW, Bruce felt a calling to serve his country and join the Army as a Military Policeman. Following his service, he returned to UW to earn his bachelor’s degree in agriculture.
From an early age, his love for the outdoors was apparent. Bruce could find a fishing spot anywhere and spend countless mornings and afternoons on the water. This passion for the outdoors stayed with him throughout his life and eventually led him to work at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as a Rangeland Management Specialist for the Casper Field Office. It was during his early career in Casper that he met Elizabeth (Becki), the love of his life. Their union beautifully blended their families, which continued to grow with the addition of another child.
Bruce’s love and dedication would transcend from his children to his grandchildren where his most cherished traits were his presence and encouragement. It was never a question on whether he would attend a sporting event to cheer on his children or grandchildren-it was only a matter of how early he’d show up.
Among many of Bruce’s accomplishments, he was a wartime Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era and honorably discharged as a Sergeant in United States Army. He was also an expert fisherman, recognized as an 'Ultimate Angler' for catching ten different trophy-sized species in Wyoming. He further proved his skill by completing the 'Cutt-Slam,' catching all four cutthroat sub-species in less than a year.
Though he is gone, Bruce’s influence remains a guiding light for his family and everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Becki; his dearest sisters, Trish Dinnel and Jerri Kim Parker; his beloved children Jesse Parker, Matthew Parker, Aaron Parker, Michaela Makin, Jacki Sutherland, and Kati Spurgin; and his cherished grandchildren Brayden, Katelynn, Peyton, Landen, Mason, Harper, Madilynn, Liam, Nolen, Rowan, and Miley. He is reunited with both of his parents, Jerry and Charlene Parker.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to either the Army Emergency Relief or the Casper Humane Society.
A celebration of life will be held at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Casper Wy, promptly at 11:30am on the 16th of January. All are welcome to attend.
