Listen to Obituary

Candyse "Candy" Desire' York, 58, passed away on November 2, 2026, For 25 years, she battled cancer and remained strong every step of the way, always putting the people she loved first and making sure everyone else was cared for before herself. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Candy met life with strength, humor, and a heart that made room for everyone. She was caring, outgoing, supportive, and fun, with a laugh that could brighten a room and a toughness that carried her through every challenge.

Born on October 26, 1968, Candy attended NC High School and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1986. She also attended Casper College and earned college credits there. Over the years, she built a life of hard work and service, working as an office manager, accountant, county clerk, in community housing, and as a legal secretary. She loved her community and brought that same steady dedication to every role she held.

Candy was a woman of many joys and many talents. She loved to sing and act, and karaoke was one of the ways she brought laughter and energy wherever she went. She enjoyed puzzles and treasured time spent making memories with the people she loved most. Her family and friends will forever hold close the annual spring fling gatherings, trips to Yellowstone, trips to New York, camping with friends, and the many adventures she shared with her grandchildren. She wanted deeply to leave a legacy for those grandchildren, and she did just that through her love, her example, and the way she showed up for her family again and again. Among her proud accomplishments, she was a multiple-time graduate in DTI advanced pistol craft, something that reflected her determination and confidence.

On July 14, 2009, she married Barton York, and together they shared an incredible life. Their marriage was a source of love and companionship, and Barton remained one of the great blessings of her life.

Candy is survived by her husband, Barton York; her daughter, Jennifer Schilling and Christopher Burton; and her son, Kevin Schilling Jr. and Brianna. She also leaves behind her former husband, Kevin Schilling Sr. and Shannon. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and that joy only grew with her beloved grandchildren: Hailey Burton, Andrew Burton, Zade Schilling, Elijah Burton, Nikko Schilling, Skylyn Burton, and Jace Burton. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in the adventures and memories they shared together.

She is also survived by her sister, Jeneane Walker and Randy Millham; her sister, Celine Schmid and Lorenzo Forbes; her brother, Dan Walker and Darlene; and her brother, Everett Walker and Christy. Candy’s circle of loved ones also includes Linda Crabb and Keith Stratton, as well as her nieces Megan and Matt, and their daughter Theodora, Joanna, and Kaylee, and her nephews Mason, Myles, Erik Walker Jr., Jared, and Danny. She loved hard for her family and friends, and that love will continue to be felt in the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Walker, and her mother, Celine Walker; by her brother, Erik Walker; and by her grandmother, Marion. Their memories remained part of her life and story, and now she rests with those who went before her.

Candyse will be remembered for her fierce love, her generous spirit, her laughter, and her remarkable strength. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and warmth that will continue in the lives of her family and friends. She will be missed dearly and remembered lovingly.
