Listen to Obituary

Catherine (“Cathy”) Ann Walker, 76, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, in Casper, WY. Cathy was born in Buffalo, Wyoming, to Clyde and Marie Key on November 15, 1948. She was raised in Kaycee, Wyoming, and graduated with the Kaycee High School class of 1967. In September of that same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Doug Walker, and moved with him to Billings, Montana, where Doug attended college. When her husband was drafted to serve with the US Army in Vietnam, Cathy moved back to Kaycee to be near her family. Over five decades of marriage, the couple lived in many places, including Montana, New Jersey, Utah, and Indiana, but home was always in Casper, where they returned for good in 2005.

Born to be a caregiver, Cathy touched the lives of many through her work as a CNA, home health aide, and as a daycare provider for many decades.

Cathy nurtured four daughters and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved many special pets throughout her lifetime; several dogs and a childhood pony still held a special place in her heart.

Cathy shared her beautiful crochet and knitting talent with family and friends, and donated many infant layettes and baby blankets to Newborns In Need Inc. She was also blessed with a green thumb for houseplants of all varieties. With her husband, Cathy enjoyed traveling to several states (including Hawaii), both US coasts, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, and Australia.

Cathy’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege to be loved by her. In Heaven, Cathy has been reunited with her husband, parents, seven siblings, and two grandsons: Dillon and Joey Peterson. Through her daughters, she leaves a legacy of warmth, kindness, and strong spirit: Cynda (Steve) Urhammer, DeLaine Williamson, Jennifer (Cameron) Santistevan, and Charlene (Robert) Peterson. She will be lovingly remembered by fifteen grandchildren: Caitlyn and Kasen Urhammer; Alec, Carter (Kristin), and Cameron (Kia) Britt; Logan, Hunter (Jasmyne), Alexander, and Sammie Santistevan; Callyn (Cody) Back; Michael, Carson, Gavin, Addelyn, and Avery Peterson; and four great-grandchildren: Oliver, Corbin, Arabella, and Eccho. Cathy will also be missed by three surviving sisters: Mary Jo, Lita, and Diane.

Her family was her world, and Cathy worried over and took care of them until the very end.

No formal services are planned. Cathy will be resting with her husband at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming. If you wish to honor Cathy’s kind and loving spirit with a donation or contribution, please consider the National MS Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
