Charlene Janette Weatherd

Charlene Janette Weatherd, 88, of Casper died Saturday, April 26, 2025 peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Charlene was born on December 10th, 1936 in Orlando, Oklahoma. The sixth child of eight born to Harold and Lillie Meier, Charlene grew up on a farm near Beverly, KS and was baptized in the Lutheran Church. She graduated from Beverly High School in 1954. After five years of dating, she married Kenneth Weatherd in 1957, and settled in Abilene, KS. In 1979, she moved with her family to Kemmerer, Wyoming and began working with Women’s Aglow. Charlene also had the sacred role of raising six children and successfully managing a busy household, which she did with immense pride. After moving to Casper, Wyoming in 1984, she quickly became the local Aglow Chapter President, and served the Aglow Women’s Prison Ministry. Charlene dedicated herself to the Women’s prison in Lusk for the remainder of her years and had a heart to continue supporting their transition out of prison. Ever the gracious hosts, Charlene & Ken have blessed countless people by welcoming them into their home and family in their time of need.

During their 41 years in Casper, Charlene hosted scores of people, including many family members, ladies transitioning out of prison, traveling speakers, and families with nowhere left to go. After joining Restoration Church, they opened their home bi-monthly to host a home group where they congregated with others to open themselves to the Holy Spirit’s teachings & the immense love of God for humanity. She spent much of her life interceding in prayer for others and fought to bring people closer to Jesus to empower them to walk in God’s will and power.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Kenneth Weatherd of Casper; one son, Brad (Jill) Weatherd of Saratoga, WY; and five daughters, Lori (Greg) Cooksey of Casper, WY, Lisa (Jim) Joslin of Kemmerer, WY, Stacy (Mark) Werner of Kemmerer, WY, Kathy (David) Heady of Casper, WY & Sara Fritsinger of Casper, WY; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
