Clyde Eston Cain, 88, of Evansville WY passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 19, 2025 at Central Wyoming Hospice.
Clyde was born on June 25, 1937 in Lyons Kansas to Gerald and Florabel (Maxwell) Cain, the eldest of four children. He spent his early childhood in Lyons and Great Bend Kansas primarily with his grandparents on their farm. In 1953 he and his family relocated to Casper Wyoming where he attended Natrona County High School. While at Natrona County High School he was a member of the schools marching band and graduated in 1955. He attended Casper College. While in High School he met his wife Marie (Freeman) and they were married in 1956.
Starting in High School Clyde worked for the Sunrise Standard Station, Safeway, and later for the local Ford Garage. In late 1959 he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1960 on the USS Fort Marion (LSD 22) as a Machinist Mate and obtained the Rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class (E5) before his discharge in 1964. Soon after leaving the service, he and Marie returned to Mills Wyoming where he worked in refrigeration, heating and air conditioning for several different employers. He later started his own business, Clydes Refrigeration, of which he operated for nearly 20 years before finally retiring. In 1995 after the passing of his first wife Marie, he met and later married Maryann Dewald in 2001.
Clyde was a devoted father, stepfather, grandpa and great grandpa. He loved children. We all used to joke around “when kids were around, he was the biggest one of them all and always the leader of the mischief”. He loved the outdoors and would spend as much time possible doing what he so loved, fishing, hunting and camping. He taught Wyoming Hunter Safety Courses for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department for nearly 20 years. He was a community volunteer at one time with meals on Wheels, helped coach Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, volunteered as a 4-H leader teaching leather craft. Along with all of this, Clyde was a Cub Scout Leader and Boy Scout leader and mentor for more than 35 years with the former Central Wyoming Counsel. In his spare time, especially in the winter he loved to tinker in his workshop, and doing woodworking.
Clyde is survived by his current wife Maryann, son Lonnie (Kimberley) Cain of Casper WY, stepsons Howard (Elanie) Dewald of Athens OH, Brian Dewald of Casper WY, grandson Kyle (Kaija) Lake of Casper WY, step grandchildren Amanda Huckabay of Casper WY, Dawn (Phillip) Batta of Vienna Austria, Andrew Dewald of Athens OH, five great grandchildren Olivia Huckabay, Kailynn Lake, Kambryn Lake, Alexander Batta, Vera Batta and multiple nieces and nephews.
Clyde was preceded in death by both of his paternal and maternal parents, his first wife Marie Cain, his brother Scott (Verlene) Cain, sister Loretta (Adrian) Soper, sister Beverly (Jerry) Selby, stepson David Dewald, stepdaughter Rhonda Cashel, and step grandson Joshua Huckabay.
