Connie Elaine Kuntz, 75, passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2026, in Glenrock, Wyoming, with her loved ones by her side caring for her. Born on September 26, 1950, in Casey, Illinois, to Richard Orndorff and Barbara (Watts) Orndorff (Illinois), Connie was the foundation of her family from the very beginning.
As the eldest of four siblings, Connie naturally stepped into a leadership role that stayed with her throughout her life. Her brother affectionately gave her the nickname "Captain," a title that perfectly captured her spirit—a little bit ornery, always in charge, and deeply protective of those she loved. To be loved by her was a beautiful thing; she had a way of making her family feel steady and seen.
Though she spent many years in Gillette, Connie’s heart was always anchored by her family. She was a creator who thrived in the warmth of the summer, finding peace in her garden and taking great pride in her home. She was constantly re-imagining and redoing furniture to fit her unique, beautiful taste. Much like her favorite pink and yellow "Peace" roses, Connie was vibrant, intentional, and naturally radiant.
She is survived by John Blake (Glenrock, WY); her daughter, Laura Hotchkiss (Glenrock, WY); her son, Bradley Stout (Marni) (Gillette, WY); her sister, Kimberly McJunkin (Patrick) (Casper, WY); and her brother, Michael Orndorff (Shirley) (Casey, IL). Her legacy of love and creativity lives on through her grandchildren: Hannah Hotchkiss, Corbin Stout, Ethan Stout, Josh Blake, and Taylor Blake, as well as Blake Griffin, whom she held dear as part of her family. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Barbara (Watts) Orndorff; her sister, Debra Bohart; and her niece, Dawn Rae Chapman.
In keeping with Connie’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, loved ones will gather in the summer for a Celebration of Her Life at Ayres Natural Bridge, a place as beautiful and enduring as her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Connie’s name to Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions (319 S. Wilson St., Casper, WY 82601), so that the family may personally thank those who contribute to the compassionate care they provide.
