In Loving Memory of Connie Lutz Reed
Connie Lutz Reed was born on August 14, 1957, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Dorothy Jung Lutz and Clifford Lutz. She grew up on the family farm in North Dakota alongside her brothers—Rockey, Paul, and Micheal—where she learned the value of hard work, resilience, and laughter. As the only girl in the family, Connie was just as ornery as her brothers, always ready with a quick wit and a playful spirit that stayed with her throughout her life.
She later moved to Worland, Wyoming, where she graduated from Worland High School in 1975. It was there she met her high school sweetheart, William Taylor Reed. They married on December 17, 1977, beginning a lifelong journey of love and partnership.
Connie and Taylor welcomed their first daughter, Melissa, in 1979, followed by Regina in 1981, Krista in 1983, and Jessica in 1985. Together, they built a loving family and made homes in Casper, Wyoming; Elko, Nevada; and Gillette, Wyoming, before settling in Glenrock in 1992. Glenrock became their forever home, where they raised their daughters and cultivated a life filled with faith, love, and service.
Connie’s unwavering faith in Christ was the foundation of her life and a light she shared generously with others. She touched countless lives through her years of service—substitute teaching at Glenrock Middle and High Schools, leading children’s church, supporting her daughters in community projects, and volunteering with Oasis Foodbank. Whether it was running concession stands, raking leaves, or diving into the latest creative endeavor her daughters imagined, Connie never hesitated. She showed up with a smile, a servant’s heart, and the kind of encouragement only a mom like her could give.
Her devotion extended to her grandchildren as well. Connie was their biggest cheerleader, showing up for band performances, school plays, sports games, and celebrating every achievement with pride and joy. Her presence was a constant source of love and affirmation, and she made sure each child knew how deeply they were cherished.
After a decade of teaching, Connie transitioned to hospitality, working at the Ramada Plaza in Casper, Wyoming, where she ended her career as an assistant manager. She also embarked on several mission trips, and though she and Taylor traveled the world, her greatest joy was spending time with family.
Connie had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether feeding guests in her home or sharing meals with friends at Oasis Foodbank or Bible study, her warmth and generosity were constants in her life. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Lutz; her mother, Dorothy Marion Lutz Miller; and her stepfather, Slim Miller. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, William Taylor Reed; her daughters Melissa (Brice) Patterson of Casper, WY; Regina Rhodes of Denison, TX; Krista Reed of Casper, WY; and Jessica (Jeremy) Gutierrez of Lynn Haven, FL. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Eric, Grace, Abigayle, Sarahabelle, and Michael; her brothers Rocky, Paul (Cindy), and Michael (Shelly) Lutz; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Connie will be deeply missed, but her spirit remains a guiding presence in the lives she so beautifully shaped.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to Oasis Food Pantry at College Heights Baptist Church.
