Daren Terpening

Daren LeRoy Terpening, 94, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Daren was born to Ray and Bessie (Finley) Terpening in Midwest, Wyoming and graduated from Midwest High School. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Black Hills State and completed his Master's in Education from the University of Wyoming. He met the love of his life, Verla while at Black Hills State; they were married in 1952. 

Together they raised 4 children in Casper. Daren began his teaching career at Roosevelt Elementary School, then moved to Paradise Valley Elementary School where he taught and then became Assistant Principal. He became Principal at University Park Elementary School from which he retired. He organized the county spelling bee for several years. Daren loved camping and fishing.  

Daren is preceded in death by parents, brother, and his wife, Verla.

He is survived by his children, Dennis; Roger; Loren (Pam); and Vickie (Oliver) Harris; sister, Donna Smith; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
