David A. Coleman

David Alphonsus Coleman, 84, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, at Central Wyoming Hospice, surrounded by the people he loved most. His children sat at his bedside sharing stories, laughter, and memories. It was a final tribute to a man whose life was defined by devotion, grit, and an unwavering love for family and country. 

Dave was born on March 19th, 1942, in Cadet, Missouri, to Mary Irene (Robart) Coleman and Charles Leo Coleman. As one of nine children, he grew up in a home full of noise, hard work, and deep family bonds. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters, leaving behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews who remember him fondly. 

At just 17 years old, Dave answered a calling bigger than himself and joined the United States Army. He enlisted twice and proudly served as a paratrooper with both the 101st Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division. Over the course of his service, he completed over 40 jumps and was stationed in Okinawa and the Philippines. Dave carried his military pride throughout his life and love for his country honorably. 

After completing his service, life led him west to Casper, Wyoming, where he met his late wife, Cherylenne Miller. Together they built a family rooted in friendship, humor, and resilience. They raised two children: David Joel (Nicole) Coleman and Kristina Amber (Alex) Dickinson, who will forever cherish the lessons their father taught them. These lessons included working hard, standing tall, always being loyal, and carrying a rock-solid stubbornness through every challenge. 

Dave was a proud grandfather to Payden Coleman, Leighum Coleman, Magus Dickinson, and Marley Dickinson, and a delighted great‑grandfather to Addison and Abigail Simpson. His grandchildren will remember his teasing grin, his stories, and the way he lit up whenever they walked into the room. 

A skilled mason, Dave co‑owned S&C Masonry for many years, leaving his craftsmanship in brick and stone throughout the Casper community. His work can still be seen across town. It was solid, dependable, and built with the same care he showed in every part of his life. After his masonry years, Dave spent much of his working life on the road. He drove for Bekins Van Lines, Salt Creek Freightways, and later PC Transport. Whether he was laying brick, hauling freight, or crude Dave carried the same steady work ethic and pride in every mile and every project. 

Dave loved playing a wicked game of Cribbage or Solitaire and spending time with his fellow veterans at the VFW. He enjoyed sitting in his garage, taking in the Wyoming scenery with a cold beer in hand and telling stories. Dave also found peace in the outdoors. He loved horses, fishing, hunting, and camping, and he passed that love on to his children and grandchildren. Some of their best memories are quiet morning walks, long hunting trips in the mountains, four wheeling in the Bighorns, and evenings around a campfire. 

He lived simply, loved deeply, and gave generously. For many years, Dave contributed to the USO supporting the men and women who serve, which was a cause that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Dave leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and love. His family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with Cherylenne and the many loved ones who went before him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
