"Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies." Psalms 103:1-4 (NLT)
With deep love and heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Wallace Holbrook, 69, was born on March 4, 1956 in Bangor, Maine, and departed this life surrounded by love at home in Casper, Wyoming; leaving behind a legacy of faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.
While his life began in Maine, David grew up in Cape Canaveral & Orlando, Florida; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Tucson, Arizona; making his way back to Florida, where he enlisted in the Army. He served during the Vietnam War from 1974-1977, where he was primarily stationed in Turkey as a cook. Upon his honorable discharge, he found his way to Casper, Wyoming where he gave his life to Christ in the Summer of '81. Shortly after, he met Bertha Moreno. David’s heart belonged entirely to her, she was his soulmate and the great love of his life. Their love was profound and enduring, a bond marked by loyalty, strength, and shared laughter. David cherished her completely, and their marriage was a beautiful example of what it means to truly love. Together, David and Bertha built a family that was his greatest source of pride. He was a devoted and loving father, raising each of them with tenderness, integrity, and joy. David’s love only grew with the arrival of his many grandchildren, whom he adored with his whole heart. He delighted in every hug, every giggle, and every moment spent with them.
David is survived by his wife, Bertha, their children, Eric (Tina), Michael (Stephanie), Stephen (Britney), Megan, and Sierra, and his grandchildren, Isaiah, Anthony, Taylor, Michael, Jadyn, Torey, Danika, Khloe, Stephen, Sawyer, and Kairo, and great-grandchild Astoria. His brothers Paul (Deb), Mark (Frankie), and Wally (Cindy) Holbrook. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace Holbrook Sr., Cora and Richard Innes, and nephew Andrew Holbrook.
David was a man of uncommon warmth and joyful spirit—a true goofball with a heart of gold. He embraced life with open arms and a sense of humor that lit up every room. His laugh was contagious, his presence comforting, and his love for others genuine and fierce. He lived each day with purpose and gratitude, grounded by a deep and personal relationship with God. His faith was not just something he believed—it was something he lived.
David carried a rare and steadfast integrity into everything he did. Whether at work, in his community, or at home, he was a man of his word—honest, dependable, and kind. His life was a reflection of his values: faith, family, and service to others.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, David’s spirit lives on in every life he touched. His legacy is etched in the love he gave, the faith he lived, and the family he built. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will be cherished forever.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday July 23rd, 2025 at the top of 2:00pm at Hope Church (620 S. Walnut St.), with a reception to follow. Please wear your best scripture or Hawaiian shirt, as those were things of great value in Dave’s closet.
