Dawna Kay Wegner

Dawna Kay Wegner, 52, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026.

She was born September 28, 1973, in Casper, Wyoming, to Susan Strohl and Michael E. Lee.

She attended schools in Natrona County, where she later went on to graduate from Kelly Walsh High School.

Dawna Kay worked at Village Inn for a number of years before changing her career to be a CSM at Walmart East, running the front end. While at Walmart, Dawna worked with her mother for many years.

Dawna eventually moved to Idaho where she raised her three children until moving back home to Casper in 2013, where she continued to raise her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing darts and spending any time she had making memories with friends and family.

Dawna was more than just a mom and friend. She was a lover, kind, caring, and always had open arms for anyone around. She was everyone's biggest cheerleader and the best support far and wide. She was the neighborhood mom to everyone! Dawna will be missed dearly by so many. Her memories will live on through her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children; Colista (Payton) Connolly of Bradenton, FL, Austin Devon Miller-Wegner of Casper, WY, and April Wegner of Casper, WY, along with grandchildren Mylah, Kaij, Desza Fay, and Braylin. She is also survived by her sisters Angela (Skip) Crotteau of Casper, WY, Jamie Byers of Scottsbluff, NE, and Laura Bennett of Spyro, OK, as well as her father and step-mother Michael E. and Sherly Lee of Casper, WY, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Joe and Margaret Strohl, mother Susan J. Byers, and sister Patty Avila.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 710 E 2nd Street, Casper, WY 82601. A reception for close friends and family will be held following services at Mac's Smokehouse Grill and Sports Bar, 1650 English Avenue, Unit A, Casper, WY 82601.
