Listen to Obituary

Scotty passed away on August 14, 2025, at his residence in Casper, Wyoming due to natural causes.

He was born to Jack E. Beckfield and Sharon Rust Beckfield in San Pablo, California on February 4,1959. He was the oldest of four: his sister, Debra and brothers, Derek and Damon.

He attended Castle Rock High School in Douglas County Colorado, (class of ’77), where he met and married his wife, Vicki Shelton. They were married for 48 years, blessed with a son Josh and a daughter Krystle.

Scotty loved his work life and was proud of what he achieved. He entered the oilfield workforce in 1980 and retired in 2020 after having worked his way up to Area Manager and Area Process Coordinator/Business Efficiency Specialist for NOV Wilson/DNOW, encompassing Montana, North Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. He loved getting up each morning, looking forward to a new day at the office or traveling in his truck throughout his territory. He often recounted the times he traveled to Scotland and London with co-workers. He made many life long friends and even in retirement he called them on birthdays or just to simply catch up.

He was active in the Windy City Wrestling Club, serving as a referee for eleven years as well as Vice President for three terms and President for five terms. He loved hunting, especially the trips with his best friends Steve, Charlie, and his son Josh. He was the “boat captain” at Alcova and Pathfinder Lakes, taking his wife on numerous fishing trips, making sure she never have a bad day of fishing. He also loved taking the entire family out on the boat up Fremont Canyon, to Sandy Beach, or dumping tubers into Alcova Lake followed by a bbq at their trailer spot at the Alcova Lakeside Marina. He enjoyed many years at the lake and also relished the lasting friendships he made there. Scotty created fond memories of family vacations, organizing block parties and neighborhood get-togethers, as well as the 4th of July parties and Labor Day water fights for anyone interested in participating. His second occupation was definitely family event coordinator, which came naturally to Scotty. He delighted in planning and organizing various social functions throughout his years.

If you knew Scott, you know he was left-handed and if you were also a southpaw you were automatically given a place in his special club. Anyone signing a paper or document left-handed in his presence was always left with this response, “Thank you for being left-handed, you know we are the only ones in our right minds”. You also knew that never, not ever were you to call him by the “D” word (his given name). Scott was always a character, which endeared him to everyone.

He was preceded in death by brother Derek and his father Jack. He is survived by his wife Vicki, mother Sharon, sister Debbie (Dave), brother Damon, son Josh (Regina), and his kids Derek, Brevan (Shaylynn), Brinley, Megan (Santana), and Reba, his daughter Krystle and her daughters Melicia (Simeon), Kyler, and Mayleigh also great granddaughters Nova, Isla, Lyric, and many other loved family members.
