Flora Almina Bourne

January 12, 1943 — April 4, 2024

Flora was born in Douglas, Wyoming on January 12, 1943 to Joseph Wesley and Louisa Amelia Alley (Gonsalves). She was the youngest of 12 siblings, from blended families. All but one had preceded her in death, including Mabel Perrine of Douglas, Perry Alley of Douglas. Only one sister still among the living, Mary Lou Sullivan (Cellan) of Douglas, Wyo.
One of Flora's biggest joys was helping her dad around the homestead just North of Douglas. Joe Alley was a horse trader and broke many horses. Flora was a very accomplished rider and rode many of the fresh/green broke horses to finish them out so they could be sold.

Flora demonstrated sincere kindness for people and had a deep love for her family and friends. She cared for many of her aging and ill family members as well as friends, assisting them in their twilight years. She spent countless hours with them, caring for them, visiting them, and assisting in their after-life care. Her love of friends and family carried over to the Annual Memorial Day visits to the city cemetery, to decorate headstones. All her friends and family headstones were decorated with personalized bouquets. For over twenty years she demonstrated the same love and devotion to the babies interred there. One of which was one of her own, Mary Lea Frye. Her love of family and a great curiosity about the family lineage brought about an ongoing passion for the family trees of as many family members as she could find. She also helped many others in their search for family members.

Flora married Russ Bourne in 1980 in Douglas. They soon left Douglas to live in Idaho Telon Valley Village of Victor. They put the girls thru school there and raised Tennessee Walker horses, drove semi-trucks together and then returned to Douglas in 1997.

Flora's subtle sense of humor was well known and she was generally seen with a smile on her face no matter what life sent her way. She frequently said "Always have a smile on your face to make others wonder what it is your up to."
She was the mother to Mary Lea Frey, Martha Louisa Guseman (Frye, Joseph Burley Taylor, Douglas Gerald Taylor, Stepmom to Rebecca Marie Irraberry (Bourne), Shannon June Bourne and Tammy Michelle Bourne. Grandmother to Trisha Salazar (Taylor), Uriah Bankes, Nicholas Guseman, Adam Guseman, Devlin Stinton (D), Spring Stinton, Tashona Taylor, Austin Stocks, Ffyona Taylor, Damion Hurd, Mikayla Stocks, Gabriel Taylor, Jackalyn Irraberry, Mitchell Irraberry, Maija Medina and Great-grandmother to 13 others.

Flora was taken from us by a stage 4 metastic cancer of the lung/bone.
In lieu of flowers please go the city cemetery on Memorial Day and decorate a grave, be it a friend, family or even some lonely grave with no decoration. That would bring a smile for sure.

There will be no funeral service. There will be a memorial service that we will be announced at a later date.

The family of Flora Bourne wish to extend our grateful and heartfelt thanks to the Staff of Central Wyoming Hospice for their kind, loving, respectful and gentle care maintaining the utmost professionalism.
