Frederick “Fred” Charles Feth, a devoted family man, dedicated professional, and steadfast member of the Casper community, passed away December 3, 2025, supported by those he loved. Born on July 29, 1938, in Tracy, Minnesota, to Oliver and Agnes Starr Feth, Fred grew up with a strong sense of curiosity, integrity, and service that guided him throughout his life.
Fred graduated from Grayslake High School in Grayslake, Illinois, before earning his degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He later attended the University of Illinois Law School. On May 26, 1962, he married Lois Johnson, beginning a partnership that would span decades and be marked by deep affection, mutual respect, and shared adventure. Together they raised two children—daughter Dr. Shari Feth (married to Professor Dr. Arne Croell) and son Chuck—and delighted in their grandson, Hunter.
Fred’s career took the family to Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, and ultimately Wyoming, a place he came to love deeply. He served honorably in the United States Army in the Intelligence Corps before beginning a long and diverse professional journey. He worked for Control Data Corporation in Minneapolis and transferred to Casper, Wyoming, in 1973. He later contributed his expertise to Bear Creek Uranium and the Morton Ranch Project. Fred spent 16 years at Casper College as Director of Human Resources, retiring in 2000. He also served the Presbytery of Wyoming as the Stated Clerk, offering thoughtful leadership and a steady hand.
A man committed both to community and faith, Fred was an elder and active member of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Casper. He generously shared his time and talents, serving as Chair of the City of Casper Civil Service Commission, the Natrona County Republican Party, and the Government Affairs Committee of the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a Commissioner for the City of Casper Planning and Zoning Commission. His involvement extended to the Casper Rotary Club, the Casper Stamp Club, and numerous professional organizations, including the Society for Human Resource Management, where he served as both Casper Chapter President and State Council Director.
Fred was known for his wide-ranging interests and his enthusiasm for life. He was an avid traveler who visited all fifty states and numerous countries, a passionate stamp collector, and a loyal fan of football and NASCAR. He enjoyed being active in the Casper community and cherished the friendships formed along the way.
Above all, Fred will be remembered for his steady kindness, his thoughtful nature, and the warmth he brought to every room. His legacy lives on in his family, his community, and the many lives he touched with his generosity and good humor.
Most of all, Fred will be remembered for his warmth, his sense of humor, and the way he always made people feel welcome. He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and a community full of friends who will miss him.
