Howard Eugene Shanafelt

Howard Eugene Shanafelt, 73, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026.

He was born December 6th, 1952 in Casper ,WY to Wilson M Shanafelt and Mildred C (Allen) Shanafelt. He was raised in Casper by his mom and step-dad Hal (Bob) Snyder. The youngest of 6 children Kenneth, Dale, Dixie, CoAnne, and Mary. 

He asked his parents to sign to get married at the age of 17 to Barbara O'Brien and soon had 2 children Travis, and Tracy. They Lived and worked on a dairy farm in Greeley, CO. His parents opened Salt Creek Freightways in New Castle, and Gene started his life long career of truck driving. Gene's passions were motorcycles, muscle cars, target shooting, visiting family and friend, Facebook, and shopping on E-Bay.

He met his soul mate and love of his life Beverlee Rose and spent the last 15 years riding to rallies, Sturges, Red Lodge (his favorites), and traveling on bikes to experience many new things that he had never done with Bev and his step-sons Karl Rosenow and Mike.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Beverlee Rose, sisters, Dixie (Joe) Carson, Mary (Paul) Peterson, son, Travis (Colleen) Shanafelt and family Brendon (Emma, Coen), Austin (Kaston, Aubrey, Brooks, and Landon Shanafelt), Tracy's 3 children, Madison (Jordan, Waylon) Cole, Grayson Cole, and Mayson Cole, and so many nieces and nephews. That everywhere he went you'd hear "Hey Uncle Gene"

A Celebration of Life Potluck is in the works for Friday October 23rd, 2026 in the eveing at the Casper Eagles. Details to follow.
