Ivor Julius de Witt, of Hillsboro, Oregon, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 11, 1955, in Ndola, Zambia, he was the son of the late Frederick Cristoffel and Margerita Magdalena de Witt. Ivor graduated from Vaal High School and went on to a career as a computer programmer and later as a truck driver. He met his wife, Cristina, in January 1981 and they were married November 27, 1981.
Beyond his career, Ivor will be remembered for his sarcasm with a heart of gold, unwavering work ethic, his passion for soccer, woodworking, golf, cooking and biltong making. In his early days he was known for his love of his motorcycles, getting together with friends to watch Formula 1 and rugby, his collection of leather jackets and vast collection of elephant figurines from around the world. He would light up any room he walked into and could tell you stories for hours. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his loved ones. He taught us the value of hard work and dedication to family.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by his wife, Cristina, his three daughters, Quimby, Jessica and Remy, and his two grandchildren, Rowan and Ariel. He is also survived by his sister, Veronica, and extended family in South Africa.
Wife, Cristina, Writes:
Today, I lost my best friend with whom I did everything with for 45 years - we had lots of adventures! Ivor was an excellent dad; he loved his three girls very much. He was always there for them and proud of them. His girls adore him. Ivor was also a very proud granddad to two. Ivor loved trucking and would not consider retirement. He always shared with me his travelling experienced. We had the habit of calling each other several times a day, every day. I enjoyed his support with everything. Rest in peace my big love and best friend! Love you! I promise to be as brave as you are as I go on without you! - Your Wife
Daughter, Remy, Writes:
He taught me how to love myself and be proud of who I am. Although he's gone, he will always live in my heart. All the memories of him and his grandson together are precious gifts he left behind. Missing him will be the hardest thing I have ever had to survive but I will never stop loving my papabear.
