Jack W. Lore

January 29, 1943 — May 6, 2026

Listen to Obituary

Jack was born in Douglas, Wyoming on January 29, 1943. He passed May 6, 2026 after dealing with cancer for over five years. He was the only child of Glen and Joan (Miles) Lore. Douglas was his home for 12 years of schooling, followed by Wentworth Military Academy in Missouri. He returned to his hometown and married Sara Crane in 1964. By 1967 the couple relocated to Casper where they raised children Marcy & Chad. Sara passed in 2008, after 44 years together.

Jack was born blind in one eye, so did not participate much in sports. Instead, he excelled in many forms of music. By age five he and his Aunt Myrtle Miles entertained at a local Dude Ranch and many service club functions around Wyoming. He enjoyed piano, church choirs, school band and a quartet with friends. In college Jack participated in the marching and dance bands as well as vocal groups. In Casper he helped start the Oil City Slickers Barbershop Chorus, serving as both president or director at times.

In early years Jack enjoyed representing New York Life Insurance Co., but advancing with their management program required relocating. He made the choice to stay in Casper and raise his family in Wyoming. From that point on most of his work related to the building trades which he had learned from his father. He retired from sales for Rex Robertson Co. (Pella) after 29 years and spent retirement perfecting his mountain cabin.

Widowed in 2008, he joined Casper Civic Chorale where he met Kathy Andren who was also widowed. By 2010 they honeymooned in Hawaii and returned often. Together they enjoyed many golden years of travel, cabin, family, and pets.

He is survived by Kathy; Marcy (Dan) Odell; Chad Lore; stepdaughters, Erica (Gil) Reyes; Heather (Brad) Adels; also by grandchildren, Jo LaPerriere; Elena, Luke, and Sam Lore; step-grands, Bradyn, Brooks, and Harper Adels. He will be greatly missed but forever loved and remembered, especially for his stories!
