Listen to Obituary

Jackie Lynn (Day) Tighe went home to Jesus on October 18, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming, surrounded by the love and memories of a life devoted to family, faith, music, and service to others.

Born on February 25, 1948, in Casper, Jackie was the daughter of William Day and Mary Lou Day. She and her sister, Nancy were so close that they were often described as being like twins. They were best friends in life.

From an early age, Jackie found joy in music. She was educated in Casper, where music became her first love and passion. Her love of the piano was more than a talent; it was a gift she would share generously with generations of students and with countless people who were blessed to hear her play.

Jackie first married Donald M. Walsh, who brought into her life his two children, Jeanie and Brent. Jackie loved them dearly and welcomed them into her heart. Together, Jackie and Don also had a daughter, Veronica. Don passed away in 1973.

Jackie later married William Tighe Sr., and they welcomed a son, William Tighe Jr. After that marriage ended, Jackie returned to the passion that had always been at the center of her life: music. For the next 42 years, she taught piano to children and adults, sharing not only her knowledge but also her patience, encouragement, and joy. Her students brought her tremendous happiness, and she will be remembered for the music she taught, the confidence she inspired, and the many lives she touched along the way.

Jackie also devoted herself to service and community. She worked for the Masonic Grand Lodge of Wyoming as secretary to the secretary of the Grand Lodge, a position from which she eventually retired. Her dedication, kindness, and commitment to her work left a lasting impression on those who served alongside her.

Her love of music and service extended into many organizations. Jackie was a member of the National Music Teachers Association, the Music Teachers Association of Wyoming, and the Casper Music Teachers Association. She was a past President of the Fine Arts Club of Casper, Wyoming. In honor of her father's military service, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant Casper Assembly No. 70, serving as President in 1998 and their Director of Music for many many years.

Faith was the foundation of Jackie's life. She served as church pianist for Winter Memorial Presbyterian Church and a Methodist church in Casper. She also played piano for church services in nursing homes, bringing comfort and familiar melodies to those who needed them. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church and loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. Her faith was reflected in the kindness she showed, the love she gave, and the quiet ways she cared for others.

Beyond her work and service, Jackie treasured time with her family. One of her favorite places was the family cabin on Casper Mountain, built by her maternal grandparents. She loved spending time there with family and dear friends and often said it was like heaven on earth. Those peaceful moments, surrounded by the people she loved most, were among her greatest blessings.

Jackie was a wonderful mother, a loving sister, a cherished friend, and a woman whose life was enriched by music and faith. Her warmth, devotion, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the music she shared, the faith she held, and the love she gave so freely.

She is survived by her daughter, Veronica Fenner and her husband, Michael Neese; her son, William Tighe; her nieces, Kimberly Doyle and Amy Carlson and her husband, Jim Carlson; their son, Fisher Carlson; and Brent Walsh his wife Darla Walsh and Jeannie Walsh-Naef. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, and her memory will remain in the music she shared, the faith she held, and the love she gave so freely.

Jackie was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (James) Doyle; her mother, Mary Lou Day; her father, William Day; and her daughter-in-law, Lindsay Tighe.

As we remember Jackie, may we find comfort in knowing that the music of her life continues—in every melody she taught, every prayer she offered, every family gathering she cherished, and every heart she touched.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

May she rest in the loving arms of Jesus, and may her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.

No public services will be held, per her wishes.
