It is with profound sadness we share the passing of our beloved JaNae S. Wood, Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 at the age of 81. JaNae relished life as Terry's wife, mother of Steven, JaNette and Cindi and grandmother of seven. "Nae", as she was known to many, was renowned for her kindness and immense capacity for unconditional love. All were welcomed into JaNae's home without judgement and made to feel loved and worthy. Nae unassumingly provided whatever was needed be it gentle counseling, a safe haven, food or clothing, or even a job. Some are said to give the shirt off their back. JaNae took this to another level providing the very car from her garage to a friend in need asking nothing in return.
JaNae, ever the farm hand, never shied from hard work. She taught by example what it was to do an honest day's labor and let your results speak for themselves as one's resume. She was a "Jill of all trades" and master of many. She put Terry through college as a beutician. She managed a hotel. She worked as a dental assistant for our dear friend & family dentist, Roger Sybrant. She was the dispatcher of a trucking company even once "dispatching" her son with one of her drivers to pay a surprise visit to a remote sweetheart. She took on a second job as a newspaper carrier with not just one or two but three routes to help Steve raise the funds to go on a school trip to Washington DC for the 1976 US Bicentennial. She ran Intermountain Awards for our cherished family friend Jerry Dalton while trying to keep Steve from wasting all the engraving metal making overatures to junior high sweethearts or flirting with the high school girls trying to work. She ran Daylight Donuts, rising early to make the donuts, and could always be counted on for a maple bar and a gentle ear. She was an entrepreneur owning and operating J&J Enterprises power washing business. Perhaps the role she is most associated with is restaurant manager for Godfather's Pizza where her impact went far beyond running successful stores. She was so beloved by everyone from the customers to the staff to the owner that upon retirement, Art, the owner, continued to pay JaNae until she finally made him stop.
All of us who were blessed with having JaNae in our lives experienced her warm & gracious love lavished on family & friends. This was never more apparent nor more special than the love she shared with her seven grandchildren, Trevor Evenson, Brandon "Tyler" Evenson, Aiden Wood, Rachel Evenson, Laurel Wood, Logan Evenson, and Dominic Wahl. Watching JaNae dote on them as they grew or sitting near as they ran the soccer pitch, performed in concert, flew in cheer or played boisterously at get togethers & reunions, you actually saw her love and pride radiate from her gentle smile.
We feel the best way to honor JaNae is to propagate her legacy of unconditional love as we go about our daily lives. WWJD...what would JaNae do?
